I still think playing in Toronto is a hard sell, ohtani, the Japanese pitcher, and Soto were never coming here regardless of front office imo. Vladdy had a great 2021 and 2nd half of 2024, the rest were ok. He's really gotta come out on fire and stay hot mostly, give them no choice then. My guess the numbers were somewhere from 33 -35 per to vladdys 40m per.

This franchise evaluates players and the amount they should be paid, like it’s 2006. I can’t wait for Mark Shapiro‘s term to expire at the end of this year. Hopefully they replace him day one after the season is over and the new guy saves the day. Shapiro is one stingy fuck when it comes to how much money to allocate towards one individual. Certainly feels like Shapiro does not like Guerrero. He made a few unnecessary comments as well regarding the negotiations.

I'm probably against the norm here - but the Jays may have saved a tonne of money. VGJ is a great player no doubt but is he the one to build a team around for the amount of cash you are willing to pay for what he wants. Agree with @cumstainz - our market is a tough sell.

The Shatkins are dummkofts, it is all about resources. After all the money he spent renovating a pig trough, Ed Rogers wasn't willing to fork out the multi-millions for one player.

And if he hits over .300 this year with over 35 home runs and 100 RBIs…. He’s gone. I understand the risk because of his stats, but it’s really about his age and potential. I feel like all he has needed is protection in the lineup so he can be very choosy for his pitch.

Look at what Steve Cohen says regarding Vladimir Guerrero at 17:06.

Such a cool, calm, confidence and what the possibilities might be with a slight chuckle in the background with reporters because they all heard the rumors and there’s a general excitement regarding the possibility of obtaining Vlady.

I wish we had this type of administrative face of the franchise. A team owner that we all know who is also a CEO. Essentially acting as a president in many ways. Someone that sits down with the media and has a real conversation instead of this executive mumbo-jumbo.

Most of the reporting has been very negative towards the Jays. The first place I checked out was MLB Network and it was the lead story. They said that the Jays blew it. A young home grown star....gone.
Another said that the Jays shot themselves in the foot--------again. Another said that Shapeero embarrassed himself at the press conference when he said that he got "emotional" over it.

It's too bad that Buck works for Rogers. When the time comes I'd love to hear what he really thinks.

I predict the Mets will sign Vlady, and Mark Shapiro and Ross Atkins will get their houses toilet papered, like they did to Mitch Williams.

That's why I said in my previous post that he's looking for only slightly more than half of what the others got.

You must be very young. Even the Leafs stopped selling out in the 80's. I think the same happened in the year they tanked and got the #1 pick. Jays fans will not be as forgiving. Even just about 10 years after they won the World Series, they were getting attendance of 16 or 17,000.

Again, as I said in my previous post, early season enthusiasm advance ticket sales will get them to at least the end of May. After that, ticket sales will be more dependent on where they are in the standings. But ratings are somewhat different. Ratings affect what they can charge for advertising. That effect could happen sooner. I also wouldn't be surprised if season ticket sales are down this year as a result of a shitty 2024.
I'm not very young. I've been a sports fan all my life. I just don't think the Jays should pay Vladdy $40 million/yr over 12 yrs for a total of $480 million. Don't forget, Vladdy was awful, for the first half of 2024. Vladdy only got better, once he got his haircut.....LMAO As usual, just my opinion!!

IMHO, the Jays will have good attendance, no matter what. A lot of these millennials, like to pay $20 general admission, walk around the renovated rogers center, and drink beer all game.....LMAO

I don't know much about protection but if Santander is hitting behind vladdy then it's time he hits in the 45 plus home run area and 120 plus rbis. Or in the 50 doubles area. A 30/100 line is in the 33-35 mil area imo.

Do fans want him at .300/30/100 or .265/45/120 ? He needs to crush home runs at a 1 every three or four games pace which would put him mid 40s for home runs. I liked watching Bautista and Edwin for the chance they're gonna hit a bomb 💣.
