Post of the year and it's only January.

I'm so tired of hearing Alberta bitch and whine. The hardships they go through with oil has nothing to do with the federal government and everything to do with the fact that the province 100% depends on the oil and gas sector because they refuse to diversify, like every other province does.

And complain -- all Alberta does is complain, complain, complain. Fucking province of Karens.

I remember reading how when the Canada Wheat Board was formed in the 1930s most grain shipments were going through Thunder Bay to Europe. The concept of "pool sharing" was applied where all farmers in the Prairies got paid the same amount for their wheat even though the average cost to ship grain by rail from Alberta to Thunder Bay was much higher than from Manitoba or Saskatchewan to Thunder Bay.

Saskatchewan and Manitoba didn't complain that they were subsidizing Alberta -- it was for the benefit and economic health of the entire Canadian grain industry.

But when grain shipments shifted to Asian markets in the mid-1970s, most of the grain began heading west through Vancouver. What happens? Alberta complained that they were subsidizing the higher freight from Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

At least Alberta is consistent!
Which means its also time to compare Norway and Alberta and their policy towards developing fossil fuels.
In that debate, socialist policy wipes the conservative policy off the planet.

You know Albertas GDP is less then 15% of Canada right?
If is such a small silver as you say, then its not such an important leverage against the US that you incorrectly assumed you could apply
lets just deny them our exports of Heinz Ketchup and PEI potatoes instead
That will get Trump to back off , apparently he loves fires with his burgers

Also, you assume oil and gas will remain valuable forever. Alberta is already Americas bitch, do you think that situation will get worse or better if it leaves Canada?
after nine years of Trudeau, Alberta's situation can only get better

any chance Trump offered D Smith multiple pipelines to tidewater, an end to insane Ecowarrior regulation, an end to transfer payments and full market price on their oil last week ?
Perhaps you should be thanking D. Smith for not jumping all over that immediately as it would be the end of Canada
She has confirmed her pride in being Canadian many many times

There is a price for everything and you are just now seeing the price for your unconditional support of a complete moron Trudeau

We exert pressure where we can, the Canadian GDP is 10% of the USA on a good day. So we need to pick areas that will hurt them, where ordinary Americans will feel the pain and exert political pressure on the govt. Who knows if things will get better for AB. I am hoping the Russian sanctions will drive up oil prices, we can settle with Trump and Canadian oil stocks will be a bit more fairly valued. Then I plan to get out of hydo carbons mostly as the Chinese will be pouring 60M EVs on the market a year..that's just China. The number of non car EVs is never considered. Last year I travelled about 1500 km on escooters and ebikes. Thats about 150l of oil that was not consumed by me. since I have owned a PHEV for the last 7 years and 52K km (about 5% gas) thats 4900 liters of gasoline I did not use. All the Uber rides I did not take due to my scooter.. damn it adds up BIG TIME.

By saying Heniz and PEI potatoes are an alternative you are showing either 1. What a fool you are, 2. what a liar you are or 3. what a shitty sense of humor you have. Take your pick. No wonder you love PP. You can't be taken seriously.

Separation can be guaranteed not to happen if we vote out
the administration of Trudeau and his Liberals this year.

You too might want to separate from Canada if the government
ordered your business to reduce net emission to zero.
What happens if you end up with Carney one of the Wests very own sons?

No I'm not. Ford is all talk. I don't want to see Canada as the 51st. Ford went into hiding during the Truckers Convoy. Put in bullshit lockdowns and vaccine mandates. Didn't stand up for workers who lost their jobs and ruined small business in Ontario. When Trump was elected the first thing Ford said was that he hopes Trump remembers who his friends are.
LOL. These covid argument are old and misguided. I've crushed them already. How do you respond to a crisis that has never happened?

Alberta should feel lucky Smith wasn't in office at the time. Half the province would have been dead.

Shrug, that describes the rest of Canada as well. It also describes most oil countries - except for Norway. The Nordic region is an exception to many things. We've gone soft doing the easy stuff on extracting our resource wealth and the US being generous with us. Both are changing and it's going to be tough.
Fuck Alberta, Fuck Danielle Smith, And Fuck the UCP.

All they do is sit on their fat asses and live off oil. What the fuck have they built in the last 40 years? huh. That's why they Smith folded so quickly, before the negotiations begun.

Saudi Alberta can kiss my ass.

You can not expect Alberta to turn off its economic engine
especially when the federal govt has spent the last nine years trying to shut down Alberta's economic engine

I have stated many times Canadians would pay a a big price for electing the moron Trudeau
The bill is due now

His number one responsibility as PM was to hold the country together
Instead he implemented the Gerald Butts plan.

Who knows if things will get better for AB.
things got better for Alberta the day Justin Trudeau announced he will resign (sort of)

you backed the Gerald Butts plan and are still backing it
that Net zero / EV / woke bullshit has turned into a disaster for Canada

you backed Justin Trudeau and are still apologizing for him . you will be apologizing for him for the rest of your days
You are one who can't be taken seriously.

What happens if you end up with Carney one of the Wests very own sons?

not going to happen
Alberta will not stand for anymore of the Gerald Butts plan
Alberta very likely has an offer of new pipelines to tidewater , an end to the transfer payments, an end of the ecowarrior regulations, an end to carbon taxes and lower income taxes
Saskatchewan would follow them and then the whole country unravels
last man standing gets stuck with Trudeau's debt

Alberta does not wish to leave, but they will if pushed
Mark Carney is Trudeau 3.0 and will maintain the evil Gerald Butts plan
Canadians / not just Albertans have had enough of that failed ideology

you had better hope/ pray Mark Carney does not get elected

Alberta is paying the price for decades of conservative government that used oil revenue to keep taxes lower and now finds themselves screwed, less revenue, no savings and taxes that will have to up or services cut.

I hear crying & jealousy given Alberta has the highest per capita income in Canada and just above Texas.

Of course close to a time of crisis Danielle Smith goes on vacation. She is trying to shaft Canada and along with O'Leary just pander to Trump's new Tariff taxes that is designated to raise some income that the American taxpayers will be on the hook for it. Of course once the income is raised then they will go for huge tax breaks to the elitists and as usual CRUMBS to the Middle Class and Low Income Americans!!

It is no coincidence that Smith appeared with O’Leary, Jordan Peterson recently Trump in Florida coupled with her appearing gleefully with Tucker Carlson on stage in Alberta just a few months ago.
Smith a known proponent of Alberta separating and is successfully positioning that province to be the rightful prey of a grifter like Trump who is exploiting Canada’s federal government in limbo situation.
Alberta is a boom and bust economy who once benefited heavily from receiving transfer payments although they currently see massive payments going out of the province which helps to stabilize what is left of this country.
Trump still has to deal with Ottawa and not the premiers so Smith is out a limb .

Alberta is pumping more oil under Trudeau than in any other time in their history despite the fact that most of the foreign capital for the oil patch has left and is not going to return anytime soon. America suckers Canada by purchasing heavy crude at a deep discount, because they can. Actually watch the Canada dollar drop immediately after inauguration if he does in fact follow through with the executive order with the promised tariffs !

Then there is the recent statements against Trump by non other than Stephen Harper would seems to be scolding and schooling Smith and the understandably silent Poilievre. There seems to be trouble at the UCP hen house.
