Please educate me.
I am open and I am no climate change crusader.
But provide proof while you are at it.
First,
prove it to me is a rhetorical crutch. I don't expect to prove anything to you as I would not expect you to prove climate change is the biggest instigator of California wildfires.
It is estimated that over 90% of wildfires are triggered by man-made incidents. (You've probably heard about the fireworks investigation regarding the current fire disaster.) Does a warmer climate contribute to wildfires? Of course. Southern California is also a desert. So extreme climate and fires are part of the natural order. Then add 39 million people to the mix almost quadrupling the population since 1950.
Modern Southern California is essentially an extreme man-made adaptation. Many efforts now by California to limit man's impact on the forest floors, water, wildlife in the name of ecology are frivolous. 39 million people have already changed the landscape far beyond its natural state.
There is room to believe that climate change is an issue without believing the State of California is effectively dealing with their problems with wildfires. Adaptation is one of man's greatest strengths.
