A new fire hast started in Hollywood

Fire breaks out in Hollywood Hills, mile from Hollywood Walk of Fame

Another fire broke out in the hills above Hollywood Boulevard Wednesday, further burdening overwhelmed firefighters who are already battling multiple fires in Los Angeles.

The latest fire, near Runyon Canyon, was threatening some of the most popular Los Angles tourist hotspots -- including the iconic Hollywood sign -- as firefighters battled to contain other blazes.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame, meanwhile, was bustling and the streets around the TCL Chinese Theatre and Madame Tussauds were packed with stop-and-go traffic as sirens blared and low-flying helicopters flew overhead to dump water on the flames, which were only about a mile away. People toting suitcases left hotels while some onlookers walked toward the flames, recording the fire on their phones.

Within a few hours firefighters had made major progress. Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Erik Scott said they were able to keep the fire in check because “we hit it hard and fast and mother nature was a little nicer to us today than she was yesterday.”

This is crazy. The fire started in the foothills of the Palisades and the Santa Ana winds are just fueling it. Los Angeles mayor cut $17M from the forest budget, I'm guessing that didn't help the situation
like i said, whoever is running Cali is to blame.

LA has always been a tinderbox. I just didn't expect it to happen at this time of the year.
I heard an interview with a fire fighter a couple of years ago where he said that they used to be able to count on a bit of a break for December and January but that is no more. They are commonly fighting fires on Christmas Day. Talk about living in LALA land. Completely unprepared for the inevitable.

Its obvious we know that for decades the state has been run by left wing 'progressives'

the fires in Hawaii could've been a great warning for them... being close to the ocean you would think with the funding Cali have, desalination of ocean water for this purposes would come in handy. Somebody is fucking up big time.

A ounce of prevention is worth a gallon of cure.

Correct me if I am wrong but the fire department steps in after a fire breaks out.
How could any budget prevent a wild fire from ever occurring?
Imo only climate change initiatives could possibly do that.

If you attend fire prevention seminars, the fire department don't only steps in when a fire breaks out. They conduct inspections on a regular basis. They even have "fire prevention week" at times...not sure about Cali but cutting fire department budget will directly affect how they prevent fires and how they fight them. You think fire department staff just sit around and wait for fires?

I'm not surprised. Does the surfactant make the water slicker and so it spreads out more? Just a guess.
Surfactants reduce surface tension of the liquid. The liquid can better ‘wet’ the surface on which it is sprayed.

911 callers are reporting arsonists have set some of the fires.
If thats true this has nothing to do with climate change

I dont think the cut is major considering the budget.
She cut it from 837M to 820M.
I dont think that would have severely limited their preventative efforts if at all there were any.
