Angelinos are not that progressive and they have only themselves to blame. They went for urban sprawl, building on land that they knew was a fire risk. They cut down old the old growth forests replacing them with fast growth trees who's sap is like gasoline. With rainfall declining it's a disaster waiting to happen - and they booed Hulk Hogan!

That's Sunset fucking Blvd!!!!

Holy shit!!!! 😦

What a tragedy, these fires keep happening in California.
I have explored a lot of California. It's incredible how dry the coast is. Just like Greece. We cannot say it's a forest fire, it's a dry wild life fire.

I heard that many insurer had removed their fire policy coverage. I do not know if that is true. Good luck to get insured in the future! Well true that people living there can probably afford it. But nevertheless now it will take years before this beautiful area get rebuild.

It's lke that scene from "this is the end"...I would blame the government running Cali for championing climate change but no prepared for these types of tragic events...haven't they learn from Hawaii? Cali is dryer than Hawaii...

He will sell some Trump Water. The wettest water in history.
Actually, you can make water "wetter" for firefighting with a wetting agent/surfactant.

Arial firefighting with plain water is sometimes practically ineffective on really hot and windy fires as much of it evaporates before hitting the ground. And even then, without adding the red retardant, the water soaks in or forms puddles.

Cal Fire is a pretty slick operator with great equipmetn and very proactive. They have a really good Canadian company called Coulson they have under contract that has rpid deployment helicopters based right in those areas for quick response. And they can now operate at night. They are good to put out spot fires quickly before the fire really gets going.

Cal Fire is a very well run, effective state owned and run agency. Probably one of the best in the world.

Ahem... and rain.

Or is the Orange-u-tan suggesting that "nobody" knew about the Pacific Palisades fire and that's why it got away? Fucking moron should keep his pie hole shut when he knows nothing about what he's talking about. People might think he's, well, a moron! 🤣
Rain and a lot of cold weather keeps Finland safe

Trump is right the accumulated underbrush is fuel for a fire but how do you rake a entire forest?
Trump is a child and his meglomania makes him believe he is a genius.

The more he opens his pie hole the more people will realize he is an idiot and he
will keep doing the "weave" as his handlers cannot get him to STFU so the more he yaps the better

In an interview Fin President said he met Trump briefly in Paris earlier in November, and on the topic of the California wildfires told him: “Finland is a country covered by forests,” and that to avoid forest fires “we have a good surveillance system and network.” Fin President said nothing about raking the forest
Exact. Raking the forest does very little. A forest fire propagate by multiple factors. Wind, topography (short hills being the worst), weather (the dryer the worst).
The fire will spread via in-drafts or fire whirls. It will then go from top of trees to top of trees, only to gown to burn what is 'burnable'. Raking the forest does nothing unless you cut immense band of trees (quite large). Which is an area like Pacific Palisades is imposible (well now if it's all burned it would mean rebuild only in certain area away from these no tree no houses zone...

I'm not surprised. Does the surfactant make the water slicker and so it spreads out more? Just a guess.
It's quite a Witches Brew of wetting agents and thickeners etc. I was once at an open pit in Georgia where they get a particular type of clay that is mixed in with the water.

Wikipedia is a good read on the many aspects of aerial firefighting. It's a pretty interesting industry although I wouldn't want to fly in it for a living. Mostly because of the downtime picking your nose in northerm bumfuck bases!

Newer retardants use ammonium sulfate or ammonium polyphosphate with attapulgite clay thickener or diammonium phosphate with a guar gumderivative thickener. Fire retardants often contain wetting agents, preservatives and rust inhibitorsand are colored red with ferric oxide or fugitive color to mark where they have been dropped. Brand names of fire retardants for aerial application include Fortress and Phos-Chek.

Some water-dropping aircraft carry tanks of a guar gum derivative to thicken the water and reduce runoff.

Tanker drops red water, only to have the wind totally disperse the drop.

The Finns laugh at that one back in 2018. No they do not rake the forest. Finland is huge with a smaller population than LA. 7 mouths of winter and heavy rains every weeks.

cali is dry as a Melba toast. Homeowners will eventually have huge issues insuring their houses... Like in Florida right now.
I wasn't going to respond but here goes. It was a joke.
Just watching CNN. Fire Chief of Angeles National Forest says "the situation is still fluid". Odd choice of word. If the fluid is Napalm maybe.

This is crazy. The fire started in the foothills of the Palisades and the Santa Ana winds are just fueling it. Los Angeles mayor cut $17M from the forest budget, I'm guessing that didn't help the situation

A lot of the homes were uninsured because insurance costs were way too high.
I heard in the neighborhood of $100,000 annually.
So some people will have lost everything.

Latest tally is over 1,000 homes destroyed now
