Something really stinks in Pickering. These are elected officials. Their salaries and expenses are paid by taxpayers. I would argue that they are more radical left than Robinson is radical right. And they are using their leverage to bully her. No scrutiny allowed.
Most ideologically motivated murders in the US since 9/11 are due to Islamic extremism, not right wing extremism. Furthermore, white supremacists, anti-Semites and anti-immigrants are not necessarily right wing extremists and shouldn't be pigeon holed as such.

There will always be wack jobs. At times, they may pick up the phone and make anonymous threats against politicians. Of course such threats are unlawful and merit reasonable security responses. However, what seems to get lost in the shuffle of responding to the threats is the poor behaviour and decisions of politicians that give rise to all the ire. This Pickering council seems to be failing to absorb that their lack of transparency and accountability is the REASON for the reactions they are getting. Perhaps they could mull that over a bit. Perhaps if they actually operated in an open and accountable way they would receive no threats at all, even from nut jobs. Hiding from the public is going to do nothing to diffuse the scrutiny they are under. Denying access is actually counterproductive.
