Yes, we should strengthen our army greatly.
A country like Israel with 1/4 population has a stronger and a bigger army than us.
Why? The only nation that might threaten us is the usa and they have 10x the population and 25x the military spending. So the only viable way to counter the usa is nuclear weapons. Would you wanna pay 25% more tax to fund a larger military?

How did you arrive at that calculation?
The Canadian Fed govt spends about 450B year,. Defence spending is about 41B of that. The US defence spend is about 820B so to get a credible defence force you would have to spend at least 25% of that, which would bring our defence budget to about 200B and fed spend to about 660B which is about 25% more then today.

Canada spends like 25B.
I think we can spend a bit more and lay out a roadmap to becoming a bigger and stronger force and spend accordingly.

According to the government's new defence policy, Our North Strong and Free: A Renewed Vision for Canada's Defence (ONSAF), released in April 2024, total military expenditure is forecasted to rise from its projected level of $41.0 billion in the 2024-25 fiscal year to a total of $57.8 billion by 2029-30, which the

It means there are going to be people on their side hurt by tariffs, and will demand exemptions. To the point it won't be an issue.

And yes, just hold your stocks for now, it's going to be a rough 4 years.
Won't be an issue. Right.

The only people who it won't be an issue for are the billionaires who cozy up to Trump.

Ah the tolerant left...You do realize that without America's protection Canada is screwed right?
From who?

Greenland?

Your buddy Putin can't even conquer Ukraine, which is right next door to him?

How about that big bully Iceland? Or our more distant neighbour, the Faeroe Islands?

But, but, butler, your idol called Trump has stated that stocks will keep on rising to record levels. Will be a smooth sailing if you take his word for it, and not a "rough 4 years"!!

From who?
In a sense Canada is protected by the U.S. but only without Trump.
Trump is the only POTUS who could scare us into spending more
money on defense for our own protection.

Listen to the twat Republican on the panel and he's all for taking Greenland, even by force if necessary. (5:18 in the clip) He also chuckles at the beginning of the clip about taking over Canada because we are in such trouble. The Repugs are warming up to the idea of conquering sovereign nations as Trumputin is about to become the POTUS.

Are Greenland and Canada for sale? Trump is expressing interest acquiring new territories
