Is it just me or is there an unusually larger number of SWers announcing their upcoming retirements? Britney from AT/PS, Vegas and Lana Ray from CMJ, Olivia Eden, Mariah Everly, Mia Madison and those are just from my memory. Obviously wishing these ladies well in the next chapter of their journeys but it seems like there is a bit of an exodus happening here. Or perhaps it is just that these ladies are letting us know that they are leaving whereas others have just vanished.

I cannot speak for others, however I was slowly retiring for the better part of the last half of this year. I did for a few months as I went out to BC briefly and between juggling my full time job, I simply didn’t have the time to also do SW without cancelling last minute and I didn’t want to do that. I’ve always said I’ll do a few pop ups when I’m in the area and also have a break from my civi job!
It seems to me the bigger the retirement announcement the more likely she returns.
Please do those pop up shifts soon. I never had the chance to see you and regret it lol

Business isn’t what it used to be, or at least that is what I was told by two escorts who retired recently.
Also one of the escorts you listed has announced she is retiring and unretiring so many times that it is hard to take her retirement announcements seriously anymore.

The only "strangeness" might be the announcements??? I get it that most providers stay for a relatively short period of time (as compared to other vocations) but it seems like more are announcing their departure.
Bittersweet to see as you hope for nothing but the best for them but also know that you will never see them again. I have seen Mia Madison many times over the years and she was my go to when I needed a pick me up. She will truly be missed but, in our last meeting, she explained that she had some big changes coming. Guess this was it.
I agree that the SW biz has changed. By that, I mean it's getting crazy $$ to sustain as a frequent hobby.
Also, it seems like the scammers are taking over - I figure LeoList is 85-90% scammer ads.
Must be hard for an honest SW to make a living.
It does not surprise me. For me at least, inflation has made everything from groceries to gas so unaffordable that there's no cash left for the "hobby". Business is likely drying up and they have to work harder just to get clients in the door.
Makes one wonder if the sun is setting on the golden age of hobbying. Although I also wonder if some thought that was the case when backpages disappeared?
Another perspective though with the retirements is who might the next generation be? It is telling that Mariah Everly was listed on the boards best of the year for multiple years with others like Maddie K who is still active but unknown for how long.
Bratha, it's not a "retirement". Unless your ass has worked 25+ years and you're retiring with a fat ass pension, you're just quitting. Who are you? Michael Jordan? Simon Biles? Even Michael's black ass couldn't stay home. It's not like you're some superstar athlete retiring young because you made your millions and your body cannot compete at the highest level anymore. Ah, ok, I see now. I see what you are doing. Anyways, why the flip would I wanna invest my time and energy in someone who's retiring? "Last calllll!" Get the heck outta here with that. Your done. Move on. I'll just wait until the fresh, new, sexy person replaces you. IT'S. FINE.

you can tell by posts how many others on here are resentful these ladies make money doing this line of work.I’ll say this, a lot of guys in the city have scared away very good providers from working here with their frugality. I heard this complaint directly from a girl who I was a regular with. She also pointed the figure at you public servants for being insanely frugal.
Does anyone wonder why several agencies have left Ottawa? A few years ago, I heard similar comments from a SW along the lines of guys agressively trying to "bargain" rates, but also not always respecting boundaries, complaining if they have to shower when arriving at an incall and generally acting entitled. She admitted that this sort of behaviour was not necessarily limited to Ottawa, but the feeling among her cohorts was that these issues were most prevalent in Ottawa, so the result was many women took Ottawa off their destination possibilities.
To get an interesting perspective, bounce on over to the Ottawa strip club thread. You get two main conversations:
The first is complaining that the clubs aren't what they use to be, far less women, far less beautiful, far less 'mileage' and extras. Too many scammers (miscounters).
The second conversation is people saying they will quit the club immediately if they ever try to increase the price of a song from $20 (the same price for about 20 years).
I'm sure you can see the problem.
Women leave when the, um, juice isn't worth the squeeze. If they get to that point and can't raise their rates then they either have to leave the city, or retire. It's no different than any other business or profession.
Look at the thread on tipping, how many guys refused to even consider a $20 tip 'out of principle'. I'd bet that a lot of these 'retired' ladies are still seeing a couple of their high-end clients a couple times a year. I'd also bet that if prices here shot up to Toronto levels overnight we'd get a whole lot more (apologies for the crude economic term) 'supply' as well.
Gentlemen, you want better girls doing more, pay better. Personality I would love, love, love if we got visits in Ottawa from world class companions. Las Vegas has FS current Playboy models, New York has FS Victoria Secret and FHM models. Our city is literally between London and New York. Just imagine what kind of experiments we could have if we weren't bitching about a $40 upcharge for x or y.
