My favourite part.
Criminologist Dr. Michael Weinrath from the University of Winnipeg says it’s time for all three levels of government to start investing more into things like mental health, social and addictions services.
Of course, Invest in mental health, social and addiction services. It's the true culprit in this. :ROFLMAO:

I’d like to see some law that says if you are a part of a thing like this you are deemed to have declared yourself an outlaw and any passerby can whack you.
I want to see maniacs hanging outside jewelry stores waiting to kill someone legally :)

That might be indeed what is needed to put an end to this nonsense.

Are owners not allowed to carry a weapon and shoot the MF's? I know a guy that was allowed to carry a small 22 because he carried cash. But these guys need to be dealt with severely just like the car thieves.

I'd love to know more about this, I've never heard of such a thing in Canada.
Yes, in Canada, it is possible to apply for an Authorization to Carry (ATC) a restricted or prohibited firearm for self-defense, including situations where there is a demonstrated risk to life due to work involving cash, jewelry, or other valuables. However, these permits are rarely granted, as Canada has strict firearm regulations. Here’s an outline of the process and requirements:

1. Demonstrated Need:

You must show that your job or circumstances place you at a higher risk of harm than the general public, such as frequent transportation of high-value items (e.g., cash or jewelry).

2. Proof of Risk:

You must provide evidence of credible threats to your safety. General concerns or theoretical risks are not enough—documented threats or incidents are typically required.

3. No Reasonable Alternative:

You must prove that there are no reasonable alternatives to mitigate the risk, such as hiring armed security, using armored vehicles, or employing other security measures.

4. Approval Process:

Applications are submitted to the Chief Firearms Officer (CFO) of your province or territory. The CFO conducts a thorough review, including background checks and assessment of the evidence provided.

5. Additional Requirements:

• You must already have a valid Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) for restricted firearms.

• You may need to complete additional training specific to carrying a firearm for self-defense.

6. Legal Constraints:

Even if approved, the ATC typically imposes strict conditions on when and how you may carry the firearm.

Since obtaining an ATC is extremely difficult, most applicants (even those dealing with cash or jewelry) are not granted this permit unless their case involves extraordinary circumstances. Instead, businesses in high-risk sectors often rely on alternative security measures.

Those damn immigrants
i really doubt those are only immigrants.

We have never seen so many homeless. And for each homeless 20 others are not but are piss poor and can barely eat. Food banks are at record low as even middle class visit them now.

more and more are turning to pity crimes to survive.

That's not suggesting those thugs stealing cars and smashing jewellery display cases with hammers are homeless and hungry, is it??

in LA they connected a group of looters who were bringing all stuff stolen to a luxurious residence. They were paid in cash. In the huge garage of that residence a few people were putting the items on Amazon and/or Marketplace. One lady, rich one, was arrested... They were targeting CSV, Sephora, Utra Beauty Stores, ... Mostly costly cosmetics.

in the news we were blaming black group of looters when in reality they were employed by a millionaire white women.

Hmm that’s mighty good of this old lady to offer safe and interesting employment to a group of disadvantaged people of colour!

Haha well she's the only one who went to jail for that ;)

You know when I saw these looting going on I told myself what the fuck this 300 pound black dude will do with the 50 Vichy anti-aging collagen (at 60$ a pieces for 50ml) he just put in his bag. Only to move to grab the whole tablet of La Roche Posay sensitive skin care tube at 35$ a pieces... May be wrong but I definitely think it's no for him ;)

Morons blaming immigrants but ignoring the fact that white Canadians commit crimes too lol. Why is it that every time I get off the 401 90% of the time it’s some white trash Canadian with mental health/drug addiction begging

OK, let me ask you: what do you think is the underlying cause for crime? Mental health, probably not (well, maybe for things like random acts of violence), but addiction causes people to do things they would never do. Some sell their bodies for their next hit, others smash and grab and hope to fence some goods to pay.

Dude, we do not live in the wild west (or parts of the US). Would you really want to live in a world where a shop keeper blows away a teenaged shoplifter? Canadian law is pretty clear that deadly force is only allowed when it is to protect yourself. And, it is only to be used in an appropriate level.

You might think our laws are lax. Maybe they are. But property crime is not the reason to allow vigilante justice and shopkeepers to act as judge, jury and executioner...
