Went to a Pita place never been before and gave me in plastic bag on Sunday with my order.
Then Sunday night in the news the ex mayor of TO who created the idea of 5c bag was on the news.
while referring to former Toronto mayor David Miller as "comrade Miller" and condemning Miller's implementation of Toronto's 5Ā¢ bag fee as "fascism".
Weird don't you think?

That's the funny thing, most fast food places still get to use them as well as convenience stores but the grocery stores are banned from using them. It makes no sense.
I'm not a fan of plastic bags to be honest...The less plastic we use the better.
Bla bla bla... You know what most people had to do when they banned plastic bags in Canada? They had to go and buy plastic bags, that come in a carboard box, to put their garbage in. Canada is not the problem when it comes to plastic bags and recycling. Making people use paper straws in Canada with the belief that it's somehow going to save the planet, it virtue signaling at its finest.
But by all means, suck on the paper straw if it makes you feel better about yourself.
I just bring my own...Have been for years
Can't tell you the last time I used a straw...Hmmm...Nope can't remember.
I'm not asking this to be cynical, just asking out of curiosity. What do you put your household garbage in?

I want them to bring back plastic bags so I can use them as garbage bags
It always drove me nuts wfen people referred to the old plastic grocery bags as single use. The were used and re-used, sometimes several times over for different purposes. So now that they are banned people are buying plastic bags to dispose of their household waste. I don't see where the improvement is. In fact, it costs the consumer more now.
I didn't even mind when they brought in the 5 cent fee for the plastic grocery bags, until I found out the grocery stores were pocketing the fee.
We can agree to disagree.

I made sure I saved up lots of the plastic bags before the ban went into effect and top them up with occasional plastic bag from a convenience store or food delivery.
The other thing I do is crush as many items that I can and try to fill in the nooks and crannies. I try to minimize the volume of the garbage that I'm throwing out. Many times, instead of just throwing out an empty container, I fill it with more garbage like tissues, small food scraps, bottle caps etc. Again, I am significantly reducing the volume of what I'm disposing of. I fold up my pizza boxes and heavy paper/cardboard packaging as tight as I can. And finally, most of my recycling goes into the heavier brown paper bags that we get with food delivery or takeout. I only put dry items in the paper bags. Those bags are recyclable.
Those old LCBO plastic bags were so durable and practical. Reused them all the time.
Here's my issue with the old grocery plastic bags...My neighbourhood roads used to be full of them.
If people would just clean up their mess I would have no problem with it.
