My Old Ass could be the sleeper hit of the fall season.

Aubrey Plaza has Nicolas Cage level talent, it's about time she gets to be a leading lady.
I would probably have enjoyed this movie if I was a woke 17 year old girl. Aubrey Plaza has about eight minutes of screen time, and for much of this movie, she literally phones it in.

On the plus side, this is an American movie set in Canada, (Muskoka Lakes), and there's no snow.

Elliott's mom looks a lot like what one would expect Alanis Morissette to look like today, now that she's 50:

Ono, My Old Ass was a film of interest, thanks for the warning.

From Vern Schillinger to Santa Claus, I still can get my head around JK Simmons as Kris Kringle. I'm expecting it to go flat out on the silliness, Rocco doesn't need another bomb.

I'll have to push back Anora for another day, have to attend a family remembrance. My sister has the flu so its my prerequisite.

I'm posting this cause I love the scene, no other reason.

The problem with Gladiator II, the history is stranger than the film. Emperor Caracalla died after he was stabbed in the ass while taking a piss.

I'm about half way through Megalopolis,

Francis Ford Coppola recent box office bomb, ($120 - $136 Million budget; $13.7 million box office). Coppola had been percolating this movie in his head since the late 1970's, and it's almost completely self-financed.

In 100 years, this movie might be hailed as a forgotten masterpiece, but most likely, it will be fodder for trivia games.

On the plus side, there is an excellent cast, and the cinematography and set design are first rate. The story, (if there is one), is challenging to follow. The 176 hour rough cut might have made more sense.

Some screen caps:

It isn't clear whether the city is supposed to look realistic here, or if this scene is one of the many dream sequences.

Adam Driver is drunk for much of the portion I've seen so far.

Adam Driver should fire his management team.

In other news Rey Wars has been shelved indefinitely. Kathleen Kennedy and feminist director Shaemeen Obaid Chinoy wanted to erase Obi Wan Kanobi and make Rey the ultimate jedi master. That must not have sat well with Steven Knight, how do you replace Alec Guinness with a muppet? Knight quit the project.

From Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy: Alec Guinness as George Smiley, Patrick Stewart as Karla.

Gladiator II smashed the International box office adding $87 million to the till, it opens in North America this weekend.

The history of Macrinus is stranger than fiction, all Ridley Scott had to do was cast a high powered actor to play him. I'll be shocked if Denzel doesn't pick up another Oscar.

High praise for Kimmel, Denzel rarely does interviews. I agree with Kimme,l King Numbnuts should bend the knee to Denzel.

I saw a review on gladiator 2. No fucking way.

Ms Chen 3 was pretty good though. She doesn't look nearly as good all dolled up as she does working the corner store dressed down.

Singham Again was really good. Bad reviews but they are what I'd like to call... wrong.
Really heavy on the patriotism and the ham fisted references to mythology which doesn't play at all to my non Indian ass, but meh, can't be perfect.

NotADoctor when do jump out of a large wooden badger?

Watched Conclave, excellent film but not for everyone.

As for Gladiator 2, haven't seen it yet. I hope they don't fuck up Macrinus, from the trailer they fucked up Caracalla really bad! He was the furthest thing from a girly man.

The Severine Dynasty did come from North Africa, they probably sided with the People's Front of Judea.

While everyone is shitting on Snow White and Tommy Boy Cruise wants to kick Alan Ritchson's teeth in, Robert Eggers remakes a North German Horror classic. While Dracula can be suave seducer, Nosferatu is the Prince of Darkness.

Ambitious move by Eggers, he's following in the footsteps of FW Murnau and Werner Herzog. Lily Rose Depp is being praised for her role in film. Good for her, she was exploited in the awful The Idol.

I love a good horror film on Dec 25.

Science fiction films are notoriously difficult to execute, which is why George Lucas never made one.

Another Nosferatu post, a video comparing the first and second film. My choice would be the original due to the revolutionary camera work. At the time the Germans were far ahead of the Americans in camera technology and it showed in the sharp austere visuals of the film. The Americans didn't catch up until Orson Welles made Citizen Kane.

There's one commonality that both films shared. Both Max Schreck and Klaus Kinski liked to grab em by the titten.

Didn't know anything about this film Mr. Figaro, thanks for the recommendation.

Damon Wayans said, " well slap me around and call me Susan"...and Tommy Lister did.

TL in The Dark Knight.

Isabelle Adjani always took risks, she was great in Nosferatu:The Vampyre. Both Marion Cotillard and Anya Taylor Joy kiss her ring...among others.

Watched the 1922 version last night. Imho the two Nosferatu films are better than any Dracula film. Johnny Depp's kid has some big shoes to fill, if she can kill as Ellen Hutter, she can choose her future roles.
