Is Canadian Mia Goth going far beyond Jamie Lee Curtis? She was in Lars von Triers's Nymphomaniac and now the completion of the xXx horror trilogy.

Katheryn Hahn is awful.

The Mightiest of all Actors is in the money. His latest is an independent project called Longlegs, the film grossed $23 million.

The film cost $10 million to make. Here he is with his co-star Maika Monroe.

Maika Monroe plays an autistic FBI Agent?! Why haven't I heard of her before? The Mighty One took on this project for the work and the potential profit sharing. He's not Lamont, he no dummy.

As Executive Producer, Nic Cage must be smiling all the way to the bank. Longlegs does not appear to be slowing down, it earned an extra $8 million on the weekdays. That makes Maika Monroe the breakout star of 2024. A complete unknown to me before Longlegs, when I watched the Actors Hotline Bling, she was the only one I couldn't identify.

The immensely talented Maika Monroe is moving from Vancouver to Calgary for her next film In Cold Light. The film is set during the Calgary Stampede, her co-stars are Allan Hawco (The Republic of Doyle) and Troy Kotsur (Coda).

Directed by Quebec's Maxime Geroux, no release date has been set.

There's Nicolas Cage then their is everyone else, I may have to change that, there's also Ralph Fiennes. Could Conclave be the film that finally gets the Oscar that's so long eluded him? Great supporting cast with Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow and Isabella Rossellini. This is the first time Stanley and Isabella worked together since Big Night.

The film is a dramatization of the sudden death of Pope John Paul I. Before this, the director Edward Bergen made the surprisingly excellent All Quiet on the Western Front.

We all have big screen TV's with elaborate sounds systems and streaming in our homes now so who needs the theatre?

Na, I like the idea of going back to the theatre, it keeps us more human more in touch. We all do too much in the comforts of our own homes, ordering, watching, etc. fuck that.
I need to find the right movie and I'm gone but it won't be Deadpool, that dude is the propaganda bitch of Canada.

Even thought I have a Klipsch centric home video system, I still go to the theater. I've seen Longlegs twice at the Colossus.

Wondering why I'd never heard of Maika Munroe before, I looked through her resume. Independence Day: Resurgence nearly derailed her career. The projects she got after that film were cheap knockoffs of It Follows. Since Nicolas Cage partially financed the film, it was a risk to cast her in the lead role. Potentially the best performance by a female actor in 2024, Nicolas knows massive talent when he sees it.

Watching too many Nicolas Cage films can ruin your health...in a good way. Finally got around to watching Mandy. Nico's best films all have a strong female co-lead, Andrea Riseborough kills!

I hadn't seen Andrea Riseborough since Melancholia.

I watched Deadpool and Wolverine, it was ok.

There were so many great films in the 90's LA Confidential stands at No. 1. Perhaps the last great Film Noir.

Like a wounded T-Rex, Disney stumbles from one disaster to another. They don't even respect their own legacy. Pundits are saying that the upcoming Snow White will see them hitting rock bottom. It's suspected that part of the updated story is taken from Rammstein's Sonne. That's a stretch, Rachel Zegler is not Yulia Stepanova.

The lovely lady is a professional ballerina...love them Czech girls.

If you didn't get a chace to watch Top Gun maverick at the theater, do yourself a favor and watch it. If you have a nice big Tv with surround sound, even better. Picture quality and sound on this movie is ridiculous.

There are two locks come Oscar season in 2025, one is Ralph Fiennes for Conclave, the other is Kieran Culkin for A Real Pain. The film is written/directed/co-starred by Jesse Eisenberg with Emma Stone producing. This could be the comedy hit of the year and a showcase for Poland.

The Mike Flanagan/Stephen King collaboration The Life of Chuck has won The People's Choice Award at TIFF.

King's short stories do well when transferred to film (Stand By Me, The Shawshank Redemption). It's a home grown project with a great ensemble fronted by Jacob Tremblay/Tom Hiddleston as Chuck.
