pts per game Boston is behind both Ottawa and NYI. I wouldn't consider them as holding the final wild card spot. They lost big to Columbus yesterday. Looks good on them. I'd like to see Ottawa make the playoffs over Boston. Imagine a Toronto Ottawa playoff series. Boston's strength was once their superline of Bergeron/Pasta/Marchand which was unstoppable. They don't have that anymore.
Boston's record of 8-9-3 is probably closer to the Flyers who are 8-9-2

Pitt is -25 goal differential. Looks good on Dubas.

Matthews has gone to Germany to receive treatment on his upper body injury. Sounds serious enough.
Is it a rib, heart, lung, shoulder or what? Missed so many games already.

There's no general NHL thread, so I'll post this here. With the firing of Jim Montgomery yesterday by Boston, none of the Jack Adams finalists from 2022 and 2023 are with the teams with whom they were nominated.
2022---Gerard Gallant(NYR)/ Andrew Brunette(Fla)/ Darryl Sutter(Cal)
2023---Jim Montgomery(Bos)/ Liny Ruff(NJ)/ Dave Hakstol(Sea).

We may not see Ovechkin beat Greztky and Matthews beat Sundin for career goals this season.

Matthews injury sounds more serious than Leaf management is willing to disclose.

Hopefully Ovi is back and can break the goal scoring record. He is off to a wicked fast start after a down season last year. Hard to imagine someone breaking that record as Gretzky thrived during an era where goal scoring was much higher. Ovi did it (and continues to do so) where teams play a much better defensive game and goalies have more skill, size and are better coached.

Matthews is in Germany receiving stem cell treatments, because they are very limited as to what it can be used to treat in Canada. If I would have to guess, I'd say wrist. The same one that he had surgery on a couple years ago. But that's just a guess.

Stem cell treatments, might be the new Tommy John procedure.

Someone please try to explain the difference between the Reaves hit on Nurse and the hit on Knies. Both hits’ principal point of contact was the head and one got a five minute major and a five game suspension and the other not even a minor ?

Mesenchymal stems cells have proven to be very effective overall.

From what I've learned Dr.Riordan who is ,the founder, chairman, and chief science officer of the Stem Cell Institute in Panama, is the guy to see.

Sadly Health Canada isn't embracing this.

That's an old time hockey hit right there...Knies has to keep his head up.

I'm surprise no penalty was called...Joe is quite upset here, lol.

Reaves took a run at Nurse...Whitecloud didn't...All about optics.

Personally I'm okay with both.
So what’s the difference between “taking a run “ and “trying to hit “ a guy ? Both Nurse and Knies had their head down and both Reaves and MacCloud tried to lay a big hit and the point of contact was on the head. What it comes down to imo is who is the offender. If it’s a player like Reaves, who is considered a “goon”, they’d throw the book at him.

I don't think for a moment that Reaves was trying to target Nurse's head...I think he was trying get a shoulder to shoulder hit.

Hard to time that though.

And there's a big difference between taking a run at a guy and standing him up coming into you zone.

During the intermission, the NHL explained that the Vegas player's body hit Knies's body first before Knies's chin hit the shoulder. So that explains it being a clean hit. My interpretation is that the NHL doesn't give a fuck it's an even-up call to Reeves' hit on Nurse that game before.

Steve Dangle explains it here but he calls it BS too.
