I've never met a Taylor Swift fan in my life.

To some it is…….
Sad world we live in when people are more interested in the lives of a trash family than something more mentally stimulating. No surprise we live in this crazy world that we do, monkey see, monkey do.

I can think of many other more important reasons to be sad about the status of the world but that is just me.

You don’t see airline ticket reselling fraud because the person purchasing the ticket has to show ID and be the one flying.

Taylor’s original price tickets are expensive but not gouging expensive. The music industry could put an end to this fraud by doing it like the airlines, although crowd lines would be an issue.

And there is nothing new here from a silliness perspective. There was once an overhyped boy band called The Beatles.

Exactly. Nose bleeds were $175. High but not insane.

I don't particularly like her music, but moreso I don't understand the concept of celebrity. The few times I've bumped into celebrities in my life it was an "Oh, that's cool. Anyway..." moment where I just carried on with the rest of my day. The concept of people basing their identities around a celeb they don't really know, or freaking out in their presence, is baffling to me. It's literally just another person, with a particular skillset, and often an overinflated sense of importance.

That's the point of my statement, trash TV watched by millions has an effect on them and in turn the rest of the world.

And my point is trash TV is not responsible for war or poverty or famine or widespread illness, etc.

Instead of wasting your energy on what you consider trash TV, look elsewhere to put that energy.

It plays a big part in people's behaviour in society, the citizens. Of course the Kardashians don't have an impact on famine and illness, but having an "entertainer" tell you who she's voting for (and being a lowkey feminist)....... 😉

So an entertainer is not allowed to have opinions. The president was a reality TV show host. A member of his previous staff was a contestant on said Show. But she’s not allowed to have a political opinion. Seems like a rather hypocritical view.

I’m not saying you have to like her. I’m not saying you have to agree with her political views. But if you’re going to accept one person who was the reality star and yet get pissed off with a person who is an actual entertainer on purely on entertainment, value well, It just makes you look silly. Keep it equal

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but when your reach is millions and in Taylor's tens of millions, it's probably best to stick to entertaining and not influencing.
Seems like there may be a bit of a correlation "And my point is trash TV is not responsible for war or poverty or famine or widespread illness, etc."

Trump was a TV host, but jumped into politics and has stayed in politics. Entertainers should just stick to entertaining and keep their political and religious beliefs to themselves, unless they run for office or want to become a religious figure.

Meh - your opinion. It’s hypocritical but you are entitled to have it.

Back in the day, in Montreal, when tickets were going on sale for a major concert, there would often be an announcement on radio about ten minutes before the start of sales, and all first day tickets were purchased in person, with only cash accepted.

From a money point of view, it doesn't matter if the tickets sell out in twenty minutes or in eight hours; no additional interest will be earned.

Now, most, if not all, sales are by credit card, and online. Someone can buy hundreds or thousands of tickets, and resell them before actually having to pay for them. That's the root of the problem.

Don't a few companies actually buy the tickets first (like Ticketmaster) and only a select few are actually sold to people first whether in person or online. That's why they sell the tickets for slightly more on their sites. As far as Taylor goes I think she's talented compared to quite a few artists. She's done well for herself so I have respect for her especially writing most of her work. That isn't easy.

I think back in the days of MJ his tickets weren't as pricey compared to what they go for now and that's why his concerts were jam packed. He didn't care about increasing the tickets by a lot. If he did his numbers would out rank artists today. He was a great entertainer! I doubt in today's world of streaming also any artist will even come close to Thriller's worldwide sales.
