Every poll is "weighted" now. Which simply means the poll makers adds a bias to the analysis as a guess to what's missing.

Latest Marist polls (end of October) show Harris ahead by 3 points in Michigan, and 2 points in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Thats all she needs. The Puerto Rico garbage comment and refusal by Trump to explicitly condemn it is hurting Trump badly.
Now among those who have already cast their ballots, 55% are women and 45% are men. With women favouring Harris by 15 points, the outcome is clear. Several Trump surrogates are admitting its over if the trend holds.

You are right that no ones knows for sure. The polls were wrong in 2016, after all. But there are trends dictated by events.
Kamala Harris conducted unconvincing interviews on CNN & 60 minutes and the trend swayed in Trump's direction. Which prompted another unconvincing interview on Fox. She would not have done that interview if she had the trend.
Then came MSG. It was not only the Puerto Rico joke which was in poor taste, Kamala Harris was called a prostitute, devil, antichrist, a cunt, etc. Trump called it a lovefest. But Nikki Haley called it defeatist strategy. Independents and women were appalled and the trend shifted in favour of Harris. And it continues with Trump saying he will protect women whether they like it or not, and the latest threat against Liz Cheney. The Marist poll showed independents breaking for Harris by 6 points in MI and WI and by a whopping 15 in PA.
And the data show women have voted in significant numbers, which favours Harris and causing alarm among Republicans.

It is true that if the electorate was only women, there'd never be a Republican president. Likewise, if the electorate was only men, there'd never be a Democrat president.
I really don't believe any swing voter gives a rat's ass about Haley or Cheney. It's why they are no longer elected officials.
