So another hurricane is aiming Florida this week.

At this stage in the season hurricane can indeed still hit but usually they are formed out of the Caribbean not further west like this one (Milton).

I know quite a few people who lives in Florida who are now not evacuating. They are tired of it. They are not insured anymore so they would rather simply die at home then spend 3-4 days on the road stuck in traffic.

First time that Florida will get 3 major hurricanes after September. But hey no way it`s us human that has an impact on this. What does have an impact is insurance company pulling out and leaving you to deal with the loss. That is the reality, if you survive it.

3 major hurricanes?? There's only been 1 so far, Milton will be the 2nd.
This has happened before btw.
In 1950 (when there was no global warming) Florida got hit by 2 as well.
See here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Florida_hurricanes

If global warming supposedly is increasing hurricanes, how come between 2005 and 2017 Florida got hit by exactly ZERO hurricanes.
So thats a 12 year span. Did global warming take a little coffee break for those 12 years or something??

That list seems to be missing some... I remember I was in South FL in 2005 when Katrina came through... Katrina first hit FL... when to the Gulf of Mexico... turned right and slammed New Orleans.

"Hurricane Katrina first made landfall between Hallandale Beach and Aventura, Florida on August 25. The storm dropped heavy rainfall in portions of the Miami metropolitan area, with a peak total of 16.43 in (417 mm) in Perrine."

I just looked it up, and it did touch down in Florida for a little bit, but it was between a tropical storm and a category 1 hurricane.

I don't think they counted that as a fullblown hurricane

It was a Cat 1 hurricane when it hit South FL. That is still a hurricane. Reading your article... It says "Major Hurricane" Cat 3 and above. It is not a list of all Hurricanes. The Category of the Hurricane has to do with wind speed and not storm surge or rainfall. I don't know if wind speed is the best way to define what is "Major" since most of the damage is caused by water not wind. By the time Helene got to Tennesse and Asheville it was a tropical storm and look at the destruction in that area.

Okay, but the global warming faithers keep claiming that hurricanes are getting more frequent and more stronger, and yet between 2005 and 2017 there were no major hurricanes in Florida.

Can you explain that??

I am saying your list is not an accurate list of hurricanes to hit Florida.

If you read my comments I am not commenting on global warming. No offense but I got better things to do than waste time with stupid arguments on an escort review board about global warming or no global warming with die hard believers (either side)... who will never change their minds.

Friend in Tampa is a bit worried and she usually doesn't get worried, but this one is apparently different.

You forgot Debby. 17k houses flooded in Quebec, miles and miles away from where Debby landed. We are still rebuilding my parents basement... Debby did a lot of damage in the US.

Then Helene just 2 weeks ago. The debris people got out of their houses due to Helene are mostly still out. And will fly away with Milton. Causing extra damage.

You may think climate change is not at cause but let me tell you the insurers don't give a shit what you think. They are pulling out, raising insurance fees like crazy and are fighting to court majority of claims... Knowing majority of people cannot afford lawyers.

That really sucks bro, but I have yet to hear a good explanation why from 2007 to 2015 no category 3 or higher hurricane hit Florida, when all the global warming faithers told us hurricanes would increase in size and frequency. That didnt happen within that time frame, even though the "experts" claimed earth kept getting hotter

Uhhh, if you are basing your opinion only on how many hurricanes hit Florida you are being a little selective, ignoring the total number of storms. In the last few decades the number of Atlantic hurricanes and named storms has definitely increased, as have the number of severe hurricanes. Establishing a firm cause and effect relationship with global warming will be challenging given the nature of the problem, but the hotter the seas, the more frequent and severe storms, that is well known.

I dislike it when someone looks at one weather event (or even one bad year) and says “See? Look what global warming is doing???!!” Just as I dislike when someone says “Look at all the snow today, those climate change people are such dumbasses”. But there is an increase in these severe weather events as the oceans become warmer.

If you wanna look at the whole picture I only see a very slight increase in hurricanes worldwide.
Certainly not statistically significant.

Straight from NOAA.gov

Awwwww porr babies... tired of it!

These are the same dumb LAZY Floridian 's who then cry like little pussies when First Reponders do not come fast enough to rescue them from the roof of their double wide mobile home! Then blame the Dems for the shortcomings of FEMA

I LOVE what the woman below said.

"Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody said at a news conference on Sunday that residents who choose to ignore evacuation orders should take steps to help authorities identify them if they perish in the storm.

'You probably need to write your name in permanent marker on your arm so that people know who you are when they get to you afterward,' she said bluntly."

Okay, so lets looks at the historical data of Atlantic hurricanes. I only see a very slight increase.
Certainly not statistically significant, nor is it any evidence that humans are responsible for that slight increase

Then you must dislike this thread, because OP is claiming exactly that.
He claims 2 major Florida hurricanes in 1 year is proof of human made global warming.
(actually he said 3 major hurricanes, so I had to correct him)
