But so is the US.I think Russia is in serious economic decline. It's just not in real time. Russia is a big country. It can feed itself. It can provide itself with basic essentials.
As far as Russia developing as an advanced economy, that dream has probably been shattered for the intermediate term. This is not just the result of the war but the double whammy of demographic decline and young people leaving the country.
What people fail to realize is a dictatorship can hold on for a long, long time masking the underlying problems until one day the regime just suddenly crumbles.
By the way, China is somewhat a friend but they want to sell the Russians stuff. They don't want to invest in and develop Russia. They have their own economic problems.
There are even more homeless than here, more poverty, infrastructure is worse and too much cash is going to fund wars and genocides.
The US is the only northern country with a declining life span.
