If a non-citizen of Canada* is ordered to be deported by a Judge, there are often several years before the order is carried out, because of the appeal procedure, (and the Canadian government pays for the defense lawyer). Often when a deportation actually takes place, the country of which the deportee is a citizen will give them a plane ticket back to Canada upon arrival, because they don't want that citizen back.
