I find the main one on Claremont has huge portions, all the other branches, half portions, same price, anyone notice that ?
I would have agreed up until a year and a half ago. The one on York Mills (north side) just west of Don Mills rivals Claremont. I get it extra hot/extra sauce and NOT cut in half. Messiest sandwich ever. It's difficult just to pick up.

That’s surprising. I’ve been many times since she and partners sold and never noticed a difference. Maybe you got end of brisket where slices are thinner and we’re not distributed properly on bread.
Maybe it was just a bad day, but for sure it was the least amount of meat that I ever had on a sandwich of theirs with the least amount of bread coverage. The slices seemed regular thickness. Their fries are very good and then I wash it all down with a black cherry soda poured over lots of ice.

Sandwich are one of the easiest thing you can replicate at home.

Tomatoes…
You happen to go to the market and find fresh snd perfect giant beefsteak or brandywine tomatoes? Just buy a quality white bread, mayo, pepper and there you go! You could slice thin old aged cheddar to it. Or if you have fresh avocado.

BLT
Or if you have some bacon?? Add lettuce and bacon to that great tomato and you just made yourself the perfect BLT. I mean for a north american is there anything better than a BLT?? Ok ok maybe a Club Sandwich 😷

Grilled Veggies…
You have leftover bbq grilled veggies (asparagus, tomatoes, onions, peppers)… Just throw that in a bowl, add olive oil, balsamic vinegar, some oregano and put that between 2 slice of grilled sourdough bread. Delicious vegan sandwich.

Roast beef…
When my teens don’t pig out too much i love having leftovers roasted beef. Cut it thin, add thin slice of red onion, a mix of red vinegar, horseradish and dijon mustard, Watercresson salad on grilled fench baguette. so good.

Eggs...
Add caramelized onions to your regular egg salad sandwich :)

Chicken... Ham...
Here there is endless recipes... i love having tortillas... i can then chop the protein, add veggies i have in the fridge, cheese (ideally habanero or cheddar) throw that in a tortilla with ranch sauce. No one doesn't like that hehe

Deli....
You have leftovers of various cuts... Go deli style sandwiches. I like sub style bread, provolone or mozza cheese (real italian mozza will make it a perfection..), fresh basil, tomatotes and or roasted pepper and your favourite vinaigrette. A classic i could eat every day but i dont ;)

Banh Mi....
One of worlwide most renowned sandwiches. I tried to make at home but gave up. Too much stuff. But when i get to a mom and pop vietnamese place i always check if they have Banh Mi sandwichs.

Tuna...
i find tuna sandwiches boring. So i will eat them on a bagel (every thing seasoning bagel), with cucumber, red onions, capers, lemon juice and salad or tomatoes... even sometime with cream cheese.

Meatballs...
you can buy meatballs at the grocery stores for pretty good prices. Throw that in a sub bread, marinara sauce, provolone cheese and pass on the oven at grilled. Just a classic.

Lobster...
after eating the tails with just garlic butter i prefer to eat the rest of the lobster meat in any kind of lobster roll. And advise, go easy with butter in your mix and serve it in a butter (grilled) french croissant!

My ultimate sandwich almost always starts with a calabrese bun. It holds up the best and you don't feel like shit after you eat it. Unlike some other dense breads.
Cold cuts - turkey, genoa salami, summer sausage, prosciutto, roast chicken or any combination thereof
Cheeses - Provolone, Swiss or Havarti
I generally don't like mayo as a spread on my sandwich. I much prefer grainy or yellow mustard.
I also don't like tomato, unless its a BLT. Lettuce is good either Boston or green leaf.
Occasionally will treat myself with a muffuletta or roasted red pepper spread.

Any suggestions for some good Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches in Toronto, this was a very good expensive one at Charlie's at Wynn Las Vegas. Or roast beef au jus type sandwiches.

I stopped finding tuna boring since I put dill and cucumber, with lots of mayo. Next time I'll add capers (one of my favourites) it's such a good idea. Also, tuna with melting cheese is simply a delight... And on a bagel? Every sandwich made on a Montreal bagel is better. I must say that I prefer croissants but bagels are a bit more reasonable.

Can I throw in a bagel?
Everything bagel from Loblaws toasted with butter and cheese.
Fantastic with a hot coffee. And I do not come from a bagel family.
Oh vey! 🤷‍♂️ Vhat are you? Some kind of anti-semite already? ;)

Traditional diner-style toasted clubhouse on toasted Wonder bread, mayo, no cheese and with real chicken or turkey. Not chicken or turkey baloney.

Don't know where to get a good one anymore.. just by chance. But I do make them at home this time of year in tomato season. And I prefer Miracle Whip instead of real mayo.🤷‍♂️

Yes, and adding a bit of mayo at every bite, so yummy.

Montreal St-Viateur Bagel now serves a bagel without a hole!! Perfect for sandwiches. Telling you the best invention since sliced bread 😷

I never liked bagels with cold cuts, you can not taste the cold cuts. The bagel over powers the meat. Simple butter is good enough. I had bagels last night. When you toast the bagels, poke some slots in the bagel with your butter knife before you apply your butter. The butter seeps in and make it taste better.

That sucks. Now I have to find a new place to quench my appetite. Used to also go to Katz's but that closed down.

I'm fine with both and I assume! But I had more St-Viateur bagels in my life just because I could find them at the grocery store.
Grocery store? A true bagel connoisseur goes to get the hot bagels fresh out of the oven. Day or night.
