New York Times writer David Brooks slammed Kamala Harris' economic policies and expressed disbelief that she would advocate for price controls. "Catherine [Rampell] had a good line that if your opponent’s calling you a communist, don’t lead with price controls," Brooks said. "We have seen it happen in Venezuela and the Soviet Union." "Price controls do not work." Brooks argued the worst is over when it comes to inflation, yet Kamala Harris would make things worse by pursuing economically illiterate policies. "But the core problem is it expresses a level of economic illiteracy that is surprising in a responsible Democratic candidate." "The idea behind 'greedflation' is we had all those years of low inflation and I guess people were not greedy then. Then magically they all get greedy and start price gouging at Kroger, Harris Teeter, HEB, and there’s this massive price gouging." "That’s not why inflation surged. Inflation surged because of the pandemic, which screwed up supply chains and productivity. The Biden Administration overstimulated the economy, too many dollars chasing too few goods..." As Vice President, Kamala Harris supported every bit of Bidenomics, thereby making it Kamalanomics. Furthermore, she passed the tie-breaking votes in the Senate on Biden's signature pieces of economic legislation, including the Inflation Reduction Act and the American Rescue Plan. The worst thing about Kamala Harris blaming "greedy" corporations for inflation is she is probably more guilty than any other elected official for causing it in the first place.
The Democrats believe, with all of their assets in the media, that they can shape the popularity of their candidates no matter what actual citizens think of them prior to an election campaign. I have never seen a more brazen demonstration of this belief than their selection of Harris - perhaps the only Democrat interested in the job with worse approval ratings than Biden!

From what you've heard from her speeches so far (only if you do follow her) Is she going to be a good president? Is she qualified? or are we on a "choose the lesser evil" type of conundrum here?
The media has always had a huge effect on what the popularity of candidates are.
It isn't complete control, but it is a real factor.
That the media, so beholden to the right wing, hasn't been able to derail the Harris/Walz momentum right now is surprising.
But they are working on it.
