This is the reaction Trump was trying to create when he attended this event. - He wanted to be back in the news, he got that.
- He wanted his base to see him "standing up to the uppity blacks". As you can see from the comments in this thread, he got that as well.

All in all, this was a great success for Trump in terms of what he was trying to accomplish.

He even stalled for 30 minutes complaining about being fact checked, then came out and blamed them for it starting late to increase his "I'm a victim" narrative.

I heard that this had been disputed between Trump and the NABJ organizers and that the NABJ organizers held their ground and were in the process of drafting an announcement that Trump’s appearance had been cancelled when he simply walked on stage and began the interview.

Everything in Trump World is a non-stop clown show.
