The LCBO sends $2.5 billion to Ontario every year.
Now DoFo is shutting it down so his buddies can make that $2.5 billion in profit.
Like he shut down Ontario Place so his buddies can rake in the lobbying fees as he gives it away to a foreign company.
Just like he shut down the Science Centre so he can give away that land to his developer buddies.
Same way he shut down Service Ontario and gave that cash to the American company, Staples.

You really hate the idea of people making enough to afford housing and food almost as much as you hate the idea of public property.

This is happening in the US, I'm sure this would make you very happy if it was happening here.
I'll ask again...how do LCBO employees give the province $2.5 billion per year as you stated?

Through their work with the LCBO, skoob.
You think it takes unionized retail staff at the LCBO to sell booze? You don't think if LCBO stores employed non-unionized staff they couldn't sell booze?

You don't think the LCBO can make the same money or more if they expanded the sale of alcohol beyond the 669 LCBO stores we currently have to thousands of retailers?

No, skoob, the workers at the LCBO return $2.5 billion in profit to Ontario.
The issue is that DoFo wants to give that profit to his donors so he can buy another 'cottage'.

The workers didn't do shit for LCBO to gain 2.5 billion...the alcohol industry did...you can replace them with people who are unemployed or Self checkouts and make the same...

What is "fair pay"?
Should taxpayers be punished because the government is printing money?

So taxpayers need to pay public employees more, because the people that are responsible for public employees are driving up inflation?
Make that make sense please.
It doesnt make sense. Thats why you should be mad at your government for printing so much money. Many will say that the printed money was needed for covid but most of it went to the billionaires.

I am saying that without unions, things would be much worse financially for the lower and middle class who fill these jobs. Life would be much more unaffordable since corporations generally arent motivated to raise wages since it cuts into profits.

Self checkouts would be a nightmare for verifying ID. It would also involve facial scanning.

But yes, it is a low skilled job that can be filled by immigrants/indians who are flooding the country and desperate for work.

Corporations stay in business because they depend on hiring talented and skilled people to help them be innovative and competitive.
If they don't compensate those employees well, guess what? They leave and go work for a competitor.

I'm all for private sector unions.
If you read my posts you'll see that the problem I have is with public sector unions.

Those have turned into charities that hold the public hostage and impact services we already pay for.

Skoob, why do want other people who work full time to not be able to afford food and housing?

Are you implying that people who work full time and are not in public sector unions can't afford food and housing?

It was Thatcher not Reagan. But we're not here to evaluate your knowledge in history.

When I pay my taxes I expect the services they are paying for to be available and not taken away from me and used as a bargaining chip because someone feels they are entitled to more compensation and "job security".

Billionaires pay more taxes than most people. They actually create jobs and drive innovation and the economy so that taxes can be generated.
Blaming the rich is a tired tactic and a typically a ploy used by the left to convince people who to blame for their own under-achieving lives.

It's always easier to blame someone else rather than taking accountability and investing in yourself right?
I'll let you retain your championship belt in Reagan/Thatcher hagiography. But just because the Iron Lady is the putative author didn't make the statement any less stupid. At least the other guy was mitigated by dementia.
As for the billionaires' trickle down economy, that one is as dead as the Milton Friedman dodo

So is Communism...as proven every time it has taken hold.
Simply replacing the term "Communism" with "Socialism" doesn't replace the ideology or end game.
History is the best teacher.

Yes, skoob, do the math.
Tell us what you can afford and where you can rent if you make minimum wage in Ontario.

Then tell us how DoFo will get $2.5 billion in dividends from 7/11.
Minimum wage jobs are not supposed to be for long-term lifetime careers.
They are geared towards young people who are working towards making something of themselves.

You can stop peddling the myth that someone who puts happy meals together should be able to somehow by a house in Forest Hill and it's up to the rest of us to ensure that happens.

Or you can just come clean and admit that what you really want is a new charity. One where the public just hands over money to someone who thinks flipping burgers should pay the same as an engineer or lawyer.

Society shouldn't reward under-achievers. It should inspire them to make something of themselves.

No, skoob.
Minimum wage is supposed to be enough to live off.

Why do you hate workers and want them to be poor?

They are striking for one reason and one reason only - they know that layoffs are imminent because they no longer will enjoy the luxury of being a monopoly.
The average wage for a part time/casual worker is $22.59/hour. The average wage for a full time worker is $31.46/hour. They also get shift premiums if they work after 7 pm and they get 12 paid stat holidays, 2 more than the majority of Ontario workers.
