You think Loblaws will send $2.5 billion to the government?
You think the people who work at those stores for minimum wage won't end up at food banks to get by?
Why do you think that's better?
Why do you automatically assume that someone who's not a union member will live in poverty?
Sounds like the union propaganda machine has worked well on you.

sounds like you are describing ultra rich captains of industry.. Obscene inequality created by compliant right wing govts who, for decades have widened the gap to placate their rich donors..and only giving false hope to the great unwashed every 4 years, during a months long election cycle....and just as quickly returning to do the bidding of Big Pharma, Big Oil...Big this and Big that...its depressing
Thinking rich people just magically became wealthy because someone handed them a bunch of money is what Marxists want you to believe so you have someone to blame for under-achievement and that's exactly what sews the seeds of Communism.

The people you describe as 'greedy, under-achievers' were also deemed 'essential workers' by your hero DoFo.
Why do you think we shouldn't pay 'essential workers' enough to cover food and housing if they work full time?
"Essential workers" doesn't mean they need to be unionized workers. Peddling the narrative that unless someone is in a union they can't earn a living is nothing but union propaganda.

If these LCBO "workers" don't feel like they're being compensated enough they are free to find another job.

So why don't they if they have it so bad?

Do taxpayers pay for the LCBO?? I suggest you stop shopping at the LCBO and show those damn union workers you're NOT GOING TO TAKE IT anymore. LMAO
Who do you think pays for the LCBO? Disney? Bezos? Please enlighten us.

We have enough taxes to pay for necessities...unionized LCBO workers are not one of them.
Those unionized LCBO workers give Ontario $2.5 billion a year.
What do you give them?
You have to have a job to even pay taxes.

You've been one of the right wingers complaining about the cost of living.
Why don't you run the numbers now and tell us what you make on minimum wage and what food and housing costs?

Clearly your mom isn't charging you rent for the basement.

Are there not enough historical examples you can reflect on that prove my point?

There is no such thing as "job security".
There is however such a thing that involves investing in yourself, developing skills, being innovative, and taking business risks. That's how one ensures they can always earn a living and thrive.

Society should not reward able-bodied under-achievers who have not invested in themselves and expect charity by way of taxpayer handouts. ie cushy unionized government job.

If you believe that charity is actually what you are referring to, then that changes the conversation.

"Essential workers" doesn't mean they need to be unionized workers.
Why do you keep arguing that essential workers shouldn't make enough to afford food and housing?
Why do you hate workers so much?

Really, how do those workers "give Ontario $2.5 billion a year" by stocking shelves?
By your logic, they would be giving Ontario even more if they weren't over-paid for what they do right?

Explain your logic while I try to stop laughing.

You really don't want people who work full time to be able to afford to live, do you?
If its a minimum wage job you think they are 'under achievers' who deserve to not be able to afford food and housing?
Then you'll complain about the homeless and how services are underfunded, forgetting that people have to make money for the government to even collect taxes.

It really sounds like you think nobody should ever do those minimum wage jobs.
All 'essential jobs' are not worth doing, shouldn't be paid enough to do them and people should just leave them to find better work in some other country.
That's your plan?

Why do they need to be unionized and hold the public hostage?

Peddling union propaganda only makes you look brainwashed...or maybe you actually are and don't realize it.

Ohhhhh you must be talking about charity and not employment. now it all makes sense.

Anyone who has invested in themselves would only take a minimum wage job as a temporary one and not make a career out of it.

And keep making shit up about what others say it just makes you look desperate while you lose another argument. (which you are losing now btw)

The time has come to abolish public sector unions. The tide is turning thank goodness.

If the government controls the import and distribution, they can control the private sector retailers.
Competition also serves as a control.

Alcohol is a commodity product. People will buy it where they can get a better deal. If a particular retailer wants to sell it for more, they will not be doing much business. That's how the free market works.
It was about the same time the canadian grocery chain got caught doing a cartel to control bread prices that the quebec SAQ said fuck off. They reverted their plan.

There is no free market when 2 entity controls 80% of the market.

The LCBO sends $2.5 billion to Ontario every year.
Now DoFo is shutting it down so his buddies can make that $2.5 billion in profit.
Like he shut down Ontario Place so his buddies can rake in the lobbying fees as he gives it away to a foreign company.
Just like he shut down the Science Centre so he can give away that land to his developer buddies.
Same way he shut down Service Ontario and gave that cash to the American company, Staples.

You really hate the idea of people making enough to afford housing and food almost as much as you hate the idea of public property.

This is happening in the US, I'm sure this would make you very happy if it was happening here.

Who says there can only be a few entities? How many places sell cannabis? Cigarettes?

I'll ask again...how do LCBO employees give the province $2.5 billion per year as you stated?
