At 33-36, the Blue Jays would need a .602 winning percentage for the rest of this season to match last year's 89 wins total. .602 for a whole season is 97.5 wins.

At 38-32, the Minnesota Twins, currently in the third AL wildcard spot, would need a .554 winning percentage for the rest of the season to win 89 games. .554 for a whole season is 89.75 wins.

Toronto would also have to get past the Texas Rangers, reigning World Series champs, who have more overall talent, more young talent, and less talent to play against in their own division, and also currently at 33-36.

The only reason that it's a good move is because picking up Vogelbach in the 1st place was an atrocious move. Atkins accomplished nothing.
Honestly, lately I would rather watch 90s WWF on YouTube when Monday night raw was being held in those little community sized auditoriums. I am focussing on so many other things right now I have all but clued out….. I don’t even watch the games anymore unless I have absolutely nothing better to do.

Pretty sad.

Your scenario is to get last wild card

What are the odds of them getting to the world series even if they do beat the odds and get a WC
when their weak hitting team faces only the best pitchers?

The problem is the Jays are not losing enough

This team needs to be rebuilt to contend and the jays may decide to buy instead to sell if WC is a possibility

which means trading future talent and the Jays are not deep in minor league talent

They need to trade at least all of this years FA if not next years as well

Everybody, except the new talent, should be available for trade this year before deadline as it is a sellers market

As a side benefit Jays dump a lot of salary

Then go to FA market when young talent develops which is only a couple of years

How else can we be a true contender?

Last wild card means something if several playoff teams have similar records, but usually it just means a worse selection in the next amateur draft. Any higher placement this year is already out of reach.

My point was that this year's Jays are trying to win enough games so that casual fans won't tune them out completely by the All Star break. I completely agree with you that they SHOULD trade their talent as soon as possible, while it still has market value. I also don't expect them to do that, and I don't expect them to legitimately contend anytime in the next five + years.

Just saw Joe Carter on CP24 this morning promoting his annual Toronto charity golf tournament. What an amazing human being.

Did he "touch 'em all" when Jennifer was sitting on the couch with him?
I certainly hope he behaved himself.

I hope YIMI AND Romano and Bochette hurry off the injury and Kichuchi gets his form back and play well as
they would be valuable trading pieces

Good luck to the call-ups and hopefully somebody can show something good. Whenever anyone gets down on this team, they should really watch the footage I posted above. It’s like the ultimate therapy :)

Jays are slowly becoming the Buffalo Bisons. Maybe now we can get somewhere with all the young talent that are trying to make it to the majors. Let's keep getting rid of the rest of those lazy and useless bums that are left.

No one will give up much for mediocore players as they are everywhere but ...

Philles catcher is down so trade Jansen , Mookie Betts is down so trade Bochette. Orioles need reliever so trade Romano and Garcia.

Lots of Teams drool for a quality starting pitcher and Vlad

Varsho is Blue JAys MVP with his defensive skills and WAR

We can become the most highly rated farm system in baseball if we trade everybody
