The solution is quite simple...you start a war with your neighbor, you build bunkers for your civilians...If you can't, don't start a warComparing how crowded Rafah is to Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal.

If you think Israel is a legit state because of the UN then so is Palestine and that means that Israel is occupying anything outside the 1948 borders.

Contrary to all the advice it receives from it's so-called allies, Israel's moderate and calculating approach to this war is actually working against it, because it's taking too much time. I think they should consider escalating their efforts to destroy Hamas, even if it results in slightly higher casualties, in order to end this war sooner.

There is a short and long term strategy imo. I believe Israel plans to hold and keep a northern section of Gaza for development and to set up gas platforms for the huge offshore reserves. Note where that new pier is. Now imagine all that rubble to fill out a causeway. Once its cleared new settlements can be moved in once things settle down.
The west bank has maybe 15 years left imo. They will use Gaza as a distraction to continue the push there.
Hamas is in desperate mode...Notice how they use the civilians more aggressively lately...you can tell how they fire rockets from Rafah with reckless abandon now...Notice that the noise about "ceasefire" are from Europe...while the Middle Eastern countries aren't as loud...a Hamas / Hezbollah Victory doesn't do any favors for Saudi, Jordan , Lebanon...
