Outplayed + outcoached.= out of the playoffs.

We may have seen the last of Samsonov as a Leaf. Woll looked good, and I truly believe a couple of those Bruin shots would have went in on Sammy. I don't see them bringing him back next year.

Tavares has become the epitome of the phrase a lot of work with few results. Time for him to graciously pass on the captaincy to Matthews. He doesn't seem to say much and he's beyond the point in his career where he can lead by example.

Boston game plan: sit back, wait for a Leaf mistake, then cash in.

If Joe Bowen criticizes the Leaf fans today he can go fuck himself.

Hockey teams are built starting from the goalie out.

This team was built ass backwards.

We don't have a #1 goalie no real #1 dman.

Next year will not be any better.

We need the Marner and Tavares contacts to expire.

Unfortunately we can't keep Marner. Too much $$$ and he couldn't rip himself out of a wet lawn bag.

Get a real #1 goalie and 2 true # 1 dman. Until then just the same old misery!

I know easier said then done.

I disagree with this. Not saying hockey teams shouldn't be built that way, but if your only go 1 for 14 on the power play, I don't care how good your goalie is or your best d-man is. You need to sustain some pressure on the PP, and need to score. The core 4 here is the problem the problem, not the goalie or the defense.

I thought it was a big feather in the cap of the Leafs. They had just gone from bottom dwellers to a relatively serious contender. They got one of the premium free agents available in Tavares, especially after being stiffed by Stamkos. Remember, Tavares had the best year of his career his first season with the Leafs.

I get that, but I knew long term it wasn't a good signing, and here we are today.

haha it easy to blame the goaltender , stupid leafs media and fans always bashing the goaltender , no wonder lot of them left.
it not a goaltender problem, it the so called overpaid core 4 bums not showing up.
i don't understand why people still fans with the Leafs, it bacially the same results every playoffs , not showing up

Signing Stamkos would have been the same fiasco as signing Tavares.
They dodged a bullet with Stamkos but they went back into the well.
TB won a cup without Stamkos when he was injured.
Stamkos plays RW. Marner and Nylander also play RW.
How many high priced RW does one team need.

Tavares best year as a Leaf was 88 pts. Good yes but I would not consider that a great year considering his salary.
He's been a fairly consistent point per game player and that's it. Nothing more nothing less.
It goes beyond that. Signing Taveras inflated the internal salary structure of the young core at the time.
It also lead to getting fleeced by trading Kadri at 4.5 mill. For a Kerfoot who Leafs signed for 3.5 mill.
It also lead to having to let Hyman go because of lack of cap room and it lead to the state now. No money for D and goalie.
With his supposed high end skill and shot he should be able to play the same role as Reinhart and Point on the power play but he doesn't or can't. Marchand the captain and older has 8 pts. Taveras has 1.

If it weren't for LA Leafs would have the tag as having both the worse PP and PK of all the 16 playoff teams.
Edmonton has pumped in 7 of 14 on the PP and LA has scored zero PP goals in 10 attempts. Leafs should play Woll.

Me i don’t care who’s better. Has Tavares been a factor in any playoff?

The Leafs were already great offensively. They should have kept all Taveres millions in contract to attract more depth in defence!

And still compare the top players this and how they do in playoffs.. seem like a few Leafs are not there anymore compared to other teams

If the Leafs get eliminated in game 5, head coach Sheldon Keefe and most of the asst. coaches will likely be fired. I would say, fired the GM too.

Alex Lyon started the series and was pulled in 3rd period of game 3 and Bobrovsky played the rest of the series
Samsonov started the series and was pulled in 3rd period of game 4 and Woll should play the rest of the series

They should let Tavares go elsewhere once he becomes free agent.
Bring Steven Stamcos back to Toronto. Look at how he scored 3 goals beating Panthers 6:3. When has Tavares scored 3 goals in a single game?
