Hamas laid out a half dozen different reasons in the media pamphlet they sent out but their leaders were clear in repeated interviews that their goal was to create a continual state of violence. And considering they have repeatedly rejected ceasefires, including the one demanded by the UNSC, it's pretty clear what the actual reason is.
More importantly, you claim terror attacks have no justification but you are continually trying to justify Oct 7.

The UNSC demanded Hamas immediately and unconditionally release their hostages. Hamas refused.

A ceasefire can't happen unless both sides agree and Israel has agreed to multiple ceasefires that Hamas has rejected.
