For years I have thought these folks are idiots. They sit with engines idling to save a couple of cents a litre.F’ing backed up and blocking Hwy 7 on my way home so they can line up for 30 minutes and save $5 in gas.
Put $236.00 in today at $1.80, would have only been $20.00 cheaper yesterday at $1.66.
Not worth my time searching for cheap gas.
I get about 800 km out of a tank.(highway)

The average person might save about eight dollars if their tank is almost empty.
This is a total waste of time if you spent an hour waiting to pump your gas.
When you consider the minimum wage is around $15 per hour, the hour you spend there you were making about half of the minimum wage.
I can find a much better way to spend that hour if you know what I mean.

CAA members get 3 cents off at Shell. They're everywhere and generally fewer line ups too. I don't know how it compares to a Costco membership though.
And if you use a BMO Mastercard you save another 2 cents, so 5 cents in total.
You get the 5¢ per liter at Canadian Tire with the Triangle card.
They changed the name of the Canadian Tire card to the Triangle card because people did not like using the CT card at the Hilton or expensive restaurants.

You get the 5¢ per liter at Canadian Tire with the Triangle card. Everyone knows what a Presidents Choice credit card is in Canada. When I travel outside of Canada it looks quite impressive. The Card has the Presidents Choice Financial logo on it. I have gotten flight and hotel upgrades because the card looks impressive. I am seeing ads with a new card design that is not as impressive looking.
They changed the name of the Canadian Tire card to the Triangle card because people did not like using the CT card at the Hilton.
Why aren't people wanting to use the CT card at Hiltons?
It only looks impressive because of the American Express Black card. At first, it was a sign of wealth because it was a titanium piece of black metal issued by American Express but then every bank and credit union started doling out black plastic cards for their highest-tier cards because of the popularity due to reality TV shows and social media. Sure if you have a black card you probably have an income greater than $80,000 to qualify but it has been watered down. This hasn't been spread to countries outside of North America so locals outside of North America will be impressed when they see a black credit card because of the association with the black exclusive American Express card that has a credit of $500,000 minimum, not knowing that the qualification of your world elite Mastercard is CAD 80,000, which is now barely middle-class income in Canada, and almost borderline poverty when you convert CAD to USD.

Canadians know the Presidents Choice brand as store branded products from Loblaw affiliated stores. Outside of Canada Presidents Choice Financial - World elite might give the impression it is an exclusive executive card.
Don't know the context about that link.... there are 20 or more charging stalls at Vaughan Mills. For travel in the GTA , I charge overnight at home . Soon to be 2.8cents/KwHr . I've only waited 5 minutes at a Tesla charger once , while out of town. Longer waits at non Tesla chargers and lots don't operate. I'm dealing with the wrong crowd . Luddites . Oh , well . I've been driving EVs for close to 5 years. I would never buy an ICE car again .

I guess it depends on which country you go to. I wouldn't want to impress anyone and make them think I was a millionaire going loco down in Acapulco.
If the rewards meet your needs, then who cares what the card looks like. A cashier isn't going to care either way. Sooner or later, plastic cards are going to get scratched up and you can use Google Wallet or Apple Pay in place of the physical card. I guess it's each person's choice to decide what is worth his time and what isn't. Nobody is in a position to criticize their choice(s), which is what this whole thread is about.
Yes, it really depends on your travel habits and if you're usually near places with Tesla chargers like Vaughn Mills. Sadly, you can't beat the physics of battery charging. You can only put so much power through a cable whie maintaining safety. Charging speed is impoving, but it's going to take time to get close let alone match the speed to refuel an ICE car.
Then there's the upgrades needed to the electric grid to handle huge numbers of EV's charging at the same time. These problems are not impossible to solve, but they're still costly and will take decades to completely roll out.
That is why I have a regular Canadian Tire credit card, I specified a low credit limit for when I buy online. Never use you high end cc at the dentist or mechanics or you will get charged more.
Here in Canada everyone knows Presidents Choice, not so much outside Canada. I have received hotel and flight upgrades because of the black cards. They want the patronage of people that might return more often. Paying with large bills will make you kook like a bumpkin.
I think that a plug in hybrid is the best choice for me. I do not need to go long distances every day. The Toyota Crown Sport plug in hybrid looks really good. I will look into it when they become available in Canada. I would not be surprised if they will also come out with a Lexus version of the car.
