How great is this if it works. Lyme disease is debilitating, people up north suffer. Back in the day you could lie in the tall grass without worries.

The days of Lyme disease may be numbered.

With ticks emerging earlier than usual this year, experts are warning of the risk of Lyme disease, a bacterial infection caused by a bite from an infected black-legged tick.

Approximately 476,000 Americans could be diagnosed with Lyme disease this year, according to US health officials. Symptoms can debilitating, including fever, chills, headaches, fatigue, muscle and joint aches and swollen lymph nodes or rashes.

A vaccine for Lyme disease is not currently available, but two scientific initiatives to fight the condition are showing promising results, with one soon to be rolled out.

Borrelia burgdorferi and, less commonly, Borrelia mayonii are the bacteria that spur Lyme disease. In the northeastern, mid-Atlantic and north-central US, Borrelia burgdorferi is spread primarily through the black-legged tick, also called the deer tick. In the Pacific Coast states, the western black-legged tick is the main culprit.

However, not all ticks carry Lyme.

Johns Hopkins Medicine notes that ticks are fond of yards, wooded areas and low-growing grasslands. Depending on the location, less than 1% to more than half of the ticks in the given area are carrying Lyme disease bacteria, which they contract via biting infected white-footed mice.

Memphis-based US Biologic aims to solve the epidemic by going straight to the source and vaccinating mice via food pellets, and studies have shown the method holds promise.

The company is “really focused” on Lyme, CEO Mason Kauffman told Times Union. “There are about 500,000 new cases each year, and most of those cases are children aged 5-10. So when they get it, they potentially have it the rest of their lives.”

I'm actually a Guinea Pig in an mRNA clinical trial here in Toronto for this Lyme Disease vaccine. https://www.the-scientist.com/newly-developed-mrna-vaccine-protects-against-lyme-disease-71477.

Got "the jab" back in December and except for my huge cock getting bigger, no side effects, no side effects,no side effects,no side effects,no side effects,no side effects,no side effects, no side effects,no side effects,no side effects,no side effects,no side effects,no side effects, no side effects,no side effects,no side effects,no side effects,no
😂😂 But do you get exposed to the virus or they just monitor you for any sides to the vaccine?

Anyways... I went ahead with it because a couple years ago I was visiting a friend in the Thousand Islands for the weekend and Monday morning I noticed what looked like a mole above my armpit after I was admiring my physique in the mirror after a shower. 💪 For some reason I decided to take a pic of it... and fuck me.. it was a tick! All that was there was its ass and hind legs sticking out! I didn't feel it at all. And only because I happened to be drying off in front of the mirror did I notice it.

I got the $10 tick remover kit I keep in my outdoor sports first aid kit and slowly pulled him out whole. Took it to the Dr who sent the tick body out for analysis and fortunately it came back negative for the bacteria.

I have two surfer friends in the Outer Banks of NC who got Lyme Disease about 10 years ago and they have never been the same. They saw the ticks but they read it was rare in the eastern parts of North Carolina so didn't bother doing anything. Also because they are beach bum granola eating kinda couple, they didn't have health insurance and were anti-big pharma so were reluctant to get it checked out or take the cheap doxycycline antibiotic prophylaxis treatment.

So it is a serious issue. Happy I got the jab but am still going to be careful.

If anyone wants to see a closeup of my armpit with an adult black legged tick's ass ... 👇👇

It seems they use the same symptoms for a lot of things, seems like it's a good way to cover the base for everything. lol

Did you have any side effects? That's what I'd be afraid of.

Just an occasional tick

But seriously, nothing. No side effects. And it is not a double blind study so I know I got the actual vaccine.

The study was for the purpose of checking for side effects and to see about long term efficacy. So I have to check carefully for tick bites in the future and report them etc. It's a single dose and I think five year observational study.

I actually feel good about participating in Clinical Studies because I feel it helps humanity. And in the case of the Lyme Vaccine I think I will get about $4000 over the period.

I had just finished a one year double blind mNRA Flu Vaccine study right before the Lyme Disease one . Don't know if I got the regular or mNRA flu shot. No side effects from it either. And I didn't get the flu either but that cold be simply because I wasn't exposed to it.

I get every fucking vaccine I can get into me! Even if I don't qualify. Like I'm up to Gardasil 9 already. And I got the OG live Shingles vaccine even when I was a year too young for it. Banging sex workers and playing with civvies and my international travelling increases my exposure to lots of potential stuff. If you have ever had chicken pox and are over 50... get vaccinated for shingles. Another guy I know sold his business and retired filthy rich at 60 and had jsut bought a new airplane, Prevost RV, sailing yacht in the Med.. ..and got shingles. This guy was one of the toughest tabernaque Quebecois bush man I have ever known. And he cried like a baby it was so painful. Took two years for it the first episode to resolve. Said he considered suicide every day. After the first episode was over, he said he lost his zest for like and sold his new, unused toys.. became depressed and passed away two years later from COVID pnemonia. Fucking guy agreed that he shoulda got the Shingles vaccine even though he was one of those "never been sick a day in my life" guys. Yet he refused the COVID vaccine. Some people gotta learn everything the hard way.. by themselves.🤷‍♂️

Having said all that... I have never had an adverse reaction to any drug or vaccine. But I ate a lot of dirt, caught a lot of frogs, snakes, leeches and generally was in the woods, ponds and forests as a kid growing up so my immune system has seen a lot! 😜

Exactly!

But those reactions are an indication that the vaccine has triggered your body's immune response! And because the vaccine is just a fake version of the real pathogen, you don;t get the actual disease. But your immune system has now recognized and developed its own biochemical blood cells to react and fight off the real pathogen if it ever encounters it.

Funny thing I've learned from these research Doc's is that if someone has a bad reaction to the COVID vaccine, the reaction to the actual virus would be much worse. But they don't know until you get "the jab".

No. I asked that and they said it would be medically unethical.

As I understand it on a simplified level.. The efficacy is first tested "in vitro", meaning in a petri dish/test tube kinda thing. Then it gets tested in living cells of mice or whatever mammal analog close to whatever human cell its supposed to act on. Then human tissue.

Then it goes to animal testing where a lab animal is vaccinated and then exposed to the pathogen.

Once it is proven to be effective and no dangerous side effects were observed in animal testing, then it moves onto low volume human testing for side effects in varying doses etc. Then if that's ok, then onto more extensive human testing etc.

It's a pretty complex process.

Especially the secret society ceremonies where they get everyone from the Doctors, Scientists, University Professors and students, lab technicians, janitors, data entry clerks, Big Pharma and Research Hospital cafeteria ladies all sworn into The Conspiracy.

And this goes for all drugs and vaccines.

You gotta wonder how smart Big Pharma really is to keep al these conspiracies going...

FUCK! I've said too much already!!!

That is nasty, FUCK!!!

I'm surprised the anti-vaxxers aren't in here telling you how the MRNA is going to genetically modify you and you are going to sprout a big round black ass and 6 lets. :ROFLMAO:

Actually now that you mention those things.. I do recall my first COOVID shot did make me feell a bit run down for a day. And one other time I did get a sore and slightly bruised deltoid for a couple days.. but the Pharmacists didn't draw back before injecting so he might have nicked a blood vessel.

I self-administer intramuscular Vit B12 (monthly in deltoid) and Vit D3 (3x year in thigh) so I tolerate injections pretty well.

meh 🤷‍♂️

That only works if you swing a chicken around your head too.

And three legged rabbits.

I live east of Ottawa in the Land O'Lakes region and have had a tick violate my body. Thankingfully I was able to remove it before it was fully imbedded in my hip. I had a bullseye on my hip and called my family doctor who prescribed antibiotic. I do a lot of walking but stay out of the bushes and this year with the mild winter ticks are going to be very bad. I know people who have had Lyme's and it is not pleasant and is not to be played with. You could be out of action for years.

You sure can suffer from it. Glad you got the early treatment Doxycyline is cheap and pretty low risk.

Best and easiest protection from ticks is to treat your hiking clothes with permethrin. Its a very safe synthetic version of the chysanthemum based insecticide.

You can buy the treated clothing in Canada but it's expensive. In the US you can buy the liquid to treat your own. But "Health" Canada refuses to allow us stupid Canuks to buy the kits or sprays for the purpose of treating clothing.

You can buy permethrin garden insecticide spray at Home Depot or Dollarama (iin season) but don't blame me if you get charged on the trail by a Health Canada Inspector 😜

It is easy to do and the treatment bonds to the fabric and lasts through many wash cycles.

I treat my shoes, socks, pants, shirts, hats ... everything. I even do my window screens at the cottage and (old) fishing camp. When a mosquito or blackfly lands on your shirt it might get enough of a dose of this nerve agent and it might die. But a tick crawling up your sock and pant leg, or dropping into your collar is gonna die before it bites into you. Really helps stop no see um and bugs from getting around the window screen edges too.

You can buy a big jjug of spray or small can at Home Depot. The RAID version has a fragrance so check if it bugs you.

If you know how to read a PCP Label and can figure out the dilution you can buy concentrate at PeavyMart and dip your own. Or you can buy premix spray or aerosel spray

On the subject of insect borne disease protection... now's the time to start treating our dogs with a systemic insecticide. They can get Lyme Disease too. It's moving northward every year as winters get shorter and milder. How bad is it in the Land 'o Lakes region?
