2 new Lyme disease vaccines could mean end of debilitating illness

On the subject of insect borne disease protection... now's the time to start treating our dogs with a systemic insecticide. They can get Lyme Disease too. It's moving northward every year as winters get shorter and milder. How bad is it in the Land 'o Lakes region?

It was a mild winter and even with the extreme cold we had last week I expect it to be bad. I keep the lawn cut and trimmed. I also wear the bug pants and jackets from Marks. I have no pets as we travel often. Have made sure my daughter's dog is vaccinated and wears a tick collar, thankfully the dog is white furred so the evil ticks will really show.

I know a couple people who had Lyme disease. Both still have side effects. One (male) has long bouts of low energy and general malaise. The other (female) is in a wheelchair, paralysed from the waist down, for life. It can be a life altering disease.
