I've got no problem spending someone else's money. But I don't think that anybody can say the Jays have been cheap in recent years.

No I get that, but K Douglas said " in fairness there wasn't an awful lot of good FA's this year" and you said "my counter to that is there's not a lot of owners with more money than Rogers".

So I mean it sounds like your blaming Rogers for not spending more, as opposed to Shatkins. At least this off season.

Not exactly. I'm saying that it wouldn't have bothered me if they decided that they'd be willing to spend more, and they could have, but they've already given enough that shatkins should have had better results.

I wouldn't be surprised if shapeero has helped Rogers' bottom line but for all the criticism that he levelled against AA, he's proved that it's easier to be a critic than it is the be the person who has to make the actual decisions.

On a separate topic all together and we've butted heads over it, with all the renovations done over the last two off-seasons to the Dome, have you modified your condemnation of what a shitty park you feel it is? I realize that we have yet to see the results of Part II, so this question may be a bit premature.

I would say it's gone from cringe worthy, to okay which is saying a lot. Its never going to be one of the best parks in MLB, but at least I don't cringe when I see it on tv or when I'm actually there.

I like part I , it’s more of a party/bar atmosphere. Also some attempts at better food. I prefer to eat prior to the game, but you can’t beat those loonie hot dogs.

Part II is a kick in the nuts. My season tickets behind the 3rd base line has been reassigned because I refuse to pay the lounge access premium.
I’m not optimistic about my new digs.

They must have changed suppliers because I used to love the hot dogs down there, this year I tried one as I was curious to see if going to a game on loonie dog night was worth it, and found the hot dogs to be disgusting.

I am still puzzled by the fact that they didn’t get Cody Bellinger when they had the chance. How could they not work out a similar deal that the Cubs brought him back for? Obviously they had meetings. Instead of bringing in this potential superstar……they sign Kevin Kiermaier for another year. Nothing against Kevin but I mean come on…… OK let’s say Cody Bellinger didn’t drop his asking price until the last moment when the Cubs figured out a deal for him… How could the Jays not stay in the loop to allow those negotiations to take place. With all due respect to dildos, I think it’s pretty obvious what Ross Atkins is.

You have to smother those things in condiments lol. Almost like asking if you would like some hotdog with your ketchup and mustard. I posted before that those poutine hotdogs are amazing for the first two or three bites, And then they just start tasting like some kind of Harvey’s nuclear accident.

He still has to want to play here for the Jays to be able to sign him. He played with the Cubs last year and was familiar with them. Boras may not have given the Jays the optioin to sign him for 3 years with a player option to opt out after the first and second seasons. It's just like Ohtani. There was no way he was ever signing with the Jays. Wouldn't have mattered how much they offered him. He was always going to the Dodgers. If the Jays offered him an 8 yr contract i'm sure he would have come here. I'd bet that 3 yr contract was only offered to the Cubs.

Well what we know is that his girlfriend or wife or whatever was posting teaser photos of Toronto, after they came to Toronto to meet with the Jays. There were definitely talks. I’m just irritated with the fact that Ross Asskins didn’t stay in the loop long enough if the 200 million asking price was a factor. They have done absolutely nothing to upgrade this team and resigning Kevin Kiermaier is the centrepiece of that thought. It’s very depressing as we prepare for a long summer of lots of stranded runners.

I get that. You never know, Bellinger could be here next if he opts out after this season. It should be an interesting season.

They had ample opportunity to turn this team into an offensive powerhouse. Even Teoscar Hernandez would’ve looked so good in this lineup along with Justin Turner.

I just thought Cody Bellinger was a perfect fit.

Could the make up of this be something similar to 1992?

Alomar/Bichette

Carter/Guerrero

White/Kiermaier

Winfield/Turner

Maybe some bullpen comparisons? Could this be even remotely possible? I think Dalton Varsho having a good year is imperative.

I have a personal connection to the Etobicoke Rangers. Joey Votto playing for the Blue Jays would make a great story. And he did apologize for his comments about Paxton’s no-hitter. And hey Dave Winfield turned 41 in 1992. The problem is Joey Votto has had such a bad average his last two years but the small sample size of his power numbers last year were fantastic. A full season of at bats according to his pace, would’ve had him hit 40 HR and over 100 RBI.

I am irritated by the fact that they got Kevin Kiermaier instead of Cody Bellinger…. but for some strange reason my gut instincts have been feeling a very positive vibe about this team recently. I feel like everything might be coming into sync and being aligned with something special.

I dunno Phil.

Alomar beats Bichette
White beats Kiermaier
Winfield beats Turner
Molitor in '93 beats Winfield in '92
Nobody to match up with Olerud
And if you want Alomar vs. Bichette, nobody to match up with Tony Fernandes.
Bullpen? I'm going out on a limb saying you'd take Timlin and Ward over Chad Green and Romano.

You are forever the optimist. LOL

I’ve definitely been a little crazy lately regarding various things in my private life, but I just feel some good vibes going on here for some reason. I can’t explain it. I hate Ross Atkins and everything about him. I think he’s a fucking moron…. but for some unexplainable reason, my instincts are telling me that this very well might be the team. The good Lord (omg) 😇 knows I’m full of mistakes at times …….but my baseball instincts have always been excellent.
