It's amazing what a little incentive can do...

Ontario Premier Doug Ford congratulated Toronto on its progress building homes last year with a $114 million cheque Thursday, saying the city has "knocked" the housing targets the province assigned it out of the park.

As part of its effort to build 1.5 million new homes in Ontario by 2031, the Ford government set specific housing targets for 50 of the largest municipalities across the province. Toronto's share is 285,000.

Ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching.

Chairman Chow knocking it out of the park.

Amazing what happens when a commie is put in charge.

Even better when the commie shows the capitalist how to get things done.
haha you think those targets were set and reached in her 6 month tenure?
Capitalism funds socialism. You seem to conveniently forget that fact.

Sucks that the GTAs population alone is projected to be more than that by 2030. In fact it’s projected to be over 10million by 2045. So a little more 1.5mm per decade. How many are we estimated to be short already?

Have fun if you don’t find ways to stem demand. Oh, and guess what demographic is primarily boomers…..oh yeah, people in dirty jobs that build roads and houses.

Oh, oh there’s going to be
demand >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Labour supply too.

Bit damn that presser and $$$$ is sure to buy a lot of votes.

Socialism funds capitalism, especially with corporate welfare and anytime a broken industry needs a taxpayer bailout. Privatize the gains and socialize the losses eh?

really how do you figure?
What does the govt use to pay for that corporate welfare or teachers, or doctors. Fairy dust or money that comes in the form of tax revenue. Which is generated by companies paying taxes and buying shit like desk and computers and paper and offices/factories/factory equipment/hydro and heating bills etc and paying income taxes and paying employees. Who in turn pay various taxes and fee to the govt

How does the government raise even more money ( revenue) when they use deficits and debt in the trillions and borrow money…by issuing Treasury Bills and bonds that are discounted or at a premium to par or pay interest. And who is king of that. Capitalism and that’s why they are called

Capital……..markets

Yup, Chow is getting shit done.
DoFo can't build dick.
Really? How many homes do you think Chow has built in 6 months?

If it wasn't for DoFo bailing her out she would have nothing. You should be thanking him.

They are socialized services, sure. But not socialism. Socialism encompasses the country as a whole, not specific services.
That's exactly what socialism is, services the government pays through taxes for the good of the public.
Maybe we should work backwards, is public health care socialism in your terms?

And how would capitalism get by without the government training its workers, building its infrastructure, enforcing its contracts, protecting its IP, making the world safe for trade, etc? Capitalists just market government debt. Government can and has so,d its debt directly in the past. There literally used to be counters and offices where government so,d its bonds directly. They could create their own institution if needed. Bank of Canada does a great job creating and buying debt as well. It's not rocket science

From the economy, of which the government is 25% or so. They also provide and charge for setvices, including the ones that capitalists depend on to make money, like IP protection, infrastructure construction, etc. If you want a system where government is absent and the market is untouched, check out Somalia. Strangely it is not known for any capitalist innovation or as a place anyone would want to live
