Great moments in New Sports Trivia:

With his first, and only, (so far), Correct! answer in this thread, @iceman69 broke up my "Perfect Page" bid on page #191, as I had recorded nineteen consecutive stumps in post #'s 3,801 - 3,819, and six consecutive at the end of the previous page. I feel like Dave Steib.

Dude had a lifetime fielding percentage of 1.000 in the Majors. He's best known for a single with one out in the top of the ninth on July 9, 1969, which spoiled Tom Seaver's bid for a Perfect Game.

What's his name?

Are you going to give him a death stare while you adjust your cup, like Steib used to do especially to his teammates?

No, I gave him props, but no trophy.

The purposes of this thread are to generate maximum page views, and challenge the memory recall skills of board members. Only a small percentage of the questions could be considered easy.

Honestly, a 'Team TERB' could hold their own in a sports trivia contest against Sports Net, ESPN, The Toronto Sun, etc. I try to come up with questions which are difficult, but not impossible to answer.

I think people who do well in the Trivia threads are unlikely to develop Alheimer's Disease any time soon. They're a good mental calisthenic.

On September 30, 1972, in his last at bat of the season, (and what would prove to be his last career at bat), he singled, ending an O for 56 season-long slump, and raising his batting average from .000 to .018.

What's his name?

You're doing a great job. I appreciate the work you do in posting fun but challanging questions. Keep up the great work.

Here's an obscure one. This year Ilya Sorokin has a GAA of 3.09 and a SV% of .914. Only once in NHL history has a goalie had a GAA of 3.09 or greater with a SV% of .914 or greater. Who was that goalie?

Which former Toronto Blue Jay hit a home run in his only World Series plate appearance?

Answered correctly by Sugarsweet905 but
There is another.jpg

Sugarsweet905 correctly identified Bobby Kielty, (a Blue Jay in 2003), who homered for the 2007 Red Sox in his only World Series plate appearance,

The other is
Jim Mason.

Mason was an original Blue Jay, acquired from the Yankees in the 1976 Expansion Draft. He batted .165 with 2 RBIs in 22 games for the '77 Jays. Mason homered in his only World Series plate appearance, as a member of the 1976 Yankees.

Yesterday in the NJ/ VAN game, all 3 Hughes brothers played. They are the 9th family in NHL history to have 3 brothers play in the same game. Name the other 8 families.

2 correct answers from omomatopoeia.
2 correct answers from shack.
2 correct answers from K Douglas.

The Plagers, (Bill, Bob, Barclay)
The Staals, (Eric, Jordan, Jared)

The Richards, (Maurice, Henri and Claude) may have played together in the same preseason game. Claude didn't play in a regular season or playoff game. He was 'the vest pocket rocket'.

Rich and Ron Sutter both played for Philly so guaranteed the Sutters are in there.

Possibly the Stastny's
