There will be some betting talk but that talk will also consist of lots of football talk and happenings on and off the field.

Any real football fan knows that its' increase in popularity for the last 60 years or so is inextricably linked to betting on it.

I'd say that Vegas has it at +280 that this will turn into a betting thread.

I know you love talking about social issues but this is not the place for that. Start a new thread on the evils of gambling.
I'd wager that the current odds are at + 300  :ROFLMAO:

There was a lot of offense and some big scoring today. 70 points for the fins.

Sean Payton and Russell Wilson look to be in big trouble.

Does Zach Wilson understand anything?

Does he know what a football is?

Does he know that the players with different uniforms from his are not there to help him?

Does he know that he is not playing a 'hide and then fall to the ground' childhood game when he has that weird foreign object, the football, in his hands?

Why is he even out there on the field?

Has he ever heard of that American game called football?

Week 4 early games recap

Must suck to be a Bears fan. Go up 28-7 on Denver, who gave up 70 the prior week, only to lose 31-28.
After a lacklustre week 1 loss to the Jets, the Bills are on a quite a roll. Thumping the Raiders, Redskins and Dolphins in 3 consecutive weeks. Diggs was a monster today 120 & 3 TD's.
The Bengals were a major disappointment again in week 4, losing 27-3 to the Titans. Don't know what the fuck to make of this, everyone on both sides of the ball are playing poorly. But its clear Burrow isn't right.
WTF how did the Texans crush the Steelers 30-6 and give up no sacks in the process. That is the biggest shock for me today.
The Browns without Deshaun Watson got waxed by the Ravens 28-3. Lamar threw for 2 TD and ran another 2 in. Dude is dangerous. Ravens are a front runner in the AFC so far at 3-1.
The Redskins gave the Eagles all they could handle before dropping a 34-31 OT decision. As young QB Howell develops I think we'll see Washington be a sneaky wildcard entrant this playoffs. My bold prediction.
Other results
TB upsets NO 26-9 despite Alvin Kamara's return. Derek Carr stinks. And Kamara with one of the craziest stat lines I've seen in a while 13 catches for 33 yards, a 2.5 YPC.
Minnesota dumped Carolina 21-13 no real shock there.
And in London the Jaguars manhandled the Falcons 23-7. I think at this point the Falcons have to move away from QB Ridder who turned the ball over 3 times today. He's not an NFL quality QB. Too bad because that offense has some nice pieces to it.

I took Bills/Fins over 64.5, Fins didn't do their share of scoring. I had LAR , gave up 23 points in a row. I had LAC coasting up 24-7. I had Eagles M/L who got lucky in OT. All my prayers helped out today, or I had that horseshoe up my *** today ! 😲 :ROFLMAO:
Horseshoe !

That was my only bet today. A winner.

If my Bengals lose next week they should shut down Burrow until he's 100% again. The season will basically be over for us so no point in taking a risk. At times I thought he was going to get killed out there today. Our offensive line is like swiss cheese.

On the KC game the majority of the KC backers had KC - 8 to -9 and with 38 seconds left they were celebrating as Mahomes was about to make the score 30 - 20. In Vegas at the sports books, the KC backers would be lining up at the wickets waiting to get paid, but Mahomes slid down in bounds at around the 4 yard line. WTF !  All those bets are just souvenirs and garbage ! I was lucky, I took the M/L.

Can't wait to see this list on Tuesday.

Do we still consider Belichick a genius?

Week 5 was probably my best betting week so far. The only bet I got wrong was the Bills and a small wager on the Packers last night.

Biggest surprises for me so far

Sam LaPorta the rookie TE for the Lions has been mighty impressive. Quite rare for a rookie TE to have an impact right away.
I'd also say the same about rookie Texans QB CJ Stroud. Texans have already won 2 games - I had them pegged for 4 wins all season.
The Bengals start, although their offense finally got in the gear this past weekend. This team is so much better than what they've showed so far.
The Bucs being 3-1, and sitting on top the NFC South. I had them finishing near the bottom of that division along with Carolina.
Where's the Falcons offense? Bijan Robinson, Drake London, Kyle Pitts are really talented players. Yes Ridder is a subpar QB but c'mon 83 points in 5 games and you've played Houston, Carolina and Jacksonville so far. Unacceptable.

The Cowboys are like Jekyll and Hyde when it comes to home vs. road games. World beaters at home. Sieves on the road. The 49'ers thumped them 42-10 and they also lost at Arizona in week 3, costing many of us our survivor pools.

Every week I like to look at the futures to see how the public/sharps are picking the SB champion. The Bills and the Boys move up and down every other week. The Fish and DET are slowly moving up. I was rooting for the Bills but they are losing a main part of their D every week, I don't think they can make it to the 2nd round of playoffs. LV has SF playing KC as we speak. I'm not sure if KC is as good as everyone thinks they are. They can be if the rookie WR's step up and Kelce thinks with his brain. . . Come on man, greatest NFL marketing strategy ever. . Bar none !

Saw the tail end of the Ravens/Steelers game. Baltimore should have won.

The Jags are a good team and had that extra week of time zone under their belt. That should have been a bet of the year for most betting folks.

Also, teams tend to play strange either before after meeting a key division rival.

The Steelers played like shit last week as they were looking forward to the meeting vs. Baltimore and Buffalo played like shit this week after so much hype and prep for the Dolphins.

Like that Oliver Stone movie title states - Any Given Sunday

Woo hoo. My Brownies beat Frisco. It came down to the last play.

"Wide right." I think I've heard that before.

And I bet them today using Shackalytics (keeping stats on spreads and certain parameters for about 20 years).

AFC covers more than NFC. (approx 52-48)
Teams favoured between 7 and 10 cover less than teams favoured by more than 10.
And home dogs cover slightly better than 50%

It didn't apply here, but division dogs also have a slight advantage.

Too bad for all those huge SF spread/money line/ survivor pool bettors . . "Wide right" ? Buffalo kicker days way back ?
