Much to Figaro's disappointment I did not watch the Ostapenko/Swiatek match, family commitments.

Madison Keys beating Jessica Pegula isn't really a surprise, she has more power. She just has to keep her head in the right space. Ostapenko vs Gauff could be a great match if the Latvian can controls her temper. Vondrousova vs Keys could be even better.

The Tommy Paul vs Ben Shelton was in the third set when I got home. Still the dark horse to end a 20 year American drought.

Zverev vs Sinner tonight.

I don't think that any American male has a chance to win.

Europe totally dominates men's tennis. Women also, but to a lesser degree.

Factoid: Frances Tiafoe, Ben Shelton, Madison Keys, Coco Gauff. First time in modern era with 4 blacks in the QF at the US Open

Alex Zverev played lights out tennis, out acing Jannik Sinner to take the match. Most of the service games were extended, Sinner missed breaking Zverev's serve on several occasions and it eventually cost him.

Arnya Sabalenka is the new women's No. 1., let's see if she's worthy of it. Her progress will be dependent on Madison Keys taking out Marketa Vondrousova, if that happens Arnya will drink Keys milkshake and reach the Final. If not, Sabalenka has to survive a war of attrition, Vondrousova is a Beast. She constructs points like Joker and rarely goes into double digits in unforced errors.

Ben Shelton is my dark horse pick to win the US Open, maybe not this year but it may be ineviatable, he's only 20.

This is surprising, didn't think MAGAs could afford US Open tickets. Security personnel gets bigger the more he resists.

Coco Gauff 6-0 6-2 Jelena Ostapenko. Surprised that Gauff won so easily against the player who dismantled Iga

Ostapenko has always been hot and cold, very temperamental player. Gauff is putting it together, her chances off winning the final are good. She plays the winner of the Cristea vs Muchova match. She won't have to face Sabalenka or Vondrousova until the Final.

Joker is dispatching Taylor Fritz, he may face Ben Shelton in the semi. That could be interesting, there's a 15 year age gap between the two.

Joker just had a magic moment. Bad news for Fritz, he's going to be lighter on his feet.

Joker blew a gasket in the third set, when he does he can be downright scary. The unruly fans who tried to bust his balls obeyed his command...lest he goes up to them and bites their heads off.

Joker's task is equally Herculean, he has to defeat two players young enough to be his sons. If he defeats Shelton and potentially Carlito, there's doubt that he's the GOAT.

Cori and Marketa have hit their stride, a Final between the two would be even more electrifying than The Rock.
