"White privilege" is a bit of an outdated concept. Much has changed in the last 20-30 years.

I think visible minorities are now the majority in the GTA.

Businesses are hiring staff who look like their customers.

Political parties are running candidates who look like their electors.

This has pretty much permeated the rest of society. Ever notice how many POC are in the medical field, education, LE, law and accounting firms, etc.

Here is an example of how one POC refugee worked his way up to CEO of a major Canadian company. Can you name this person?

Demographic privilege. Pompus door knobs who moved up the ladder with often very little education because they started before the boomers.
They think they got there soley due to their merit. However, not all guys in this generation are like this. And this generation is now dying out.

Racist as it tries to suggest that these things were created BECAUSE they were white and not discovered by people who just happened to be white.

Do you also support the same thing that male privilege is okay because almost all those things were developed by men?

They happened to be white, yes. But that credit doesn't go to you or to anyone else. It solely belongs to those specific individuals. Heck you don't even share a nationality with them in most cases.

So while we can thank Edison, Westinghouse, Bell and the Wright Brothers, we don't have to thank any random white dude we meet.

Racial pride, based on someone else's accomplishments is basically a pathetic display of inferiority complex - meaning, you (and I don't mean YOU specifically), don't have any accomplishments of your own, so you take pride and ownership of someone else's accomplishments in a bid to make yourself feel better.

We also haven't even started discussing about how women and POCs were not allowed to succeed, were segregated and systematically and legally oppressed, when most of those things were invented. Also, the more recent inventions cannot be assigned to "white people" anyway, because today things are accomplished as teams, that are generally racially and culturally diverse.

So, yes, its racist

So if black people are proud of the athletic accomplishments of Jesse Owens and Muhammad Ali, they are being racist in your opinion??

Privilege is changeable, and depends on society's viewpoint. But I feel most people don't believe that privilege is changeable. I think it's true that older white men are very privileged, by virtue of growing up in a time where they were granted certain advantages based solely on their skin color, or the skin color of their parents. However, young white men a very underpriveleged in comparison, and are being punished for the sins of their parents, when it comes to things like university admissions and hiring. So thinking of white privilege as uniform across the board is highly inaccurate.

Even privileges like wealth, that you think may not ever change...may change. The wealthy fear revolution for a reason.

No they are not. They are proud of the accomplishments of 2 individuals who made something of themselves in a time, when all black people were oppressed. So they are an inspiration. It is the same reason why women finding inspiration and being proud of lets say, Marie Curie is not sexist or racist. Women were kept down and oppressed and these outliers stood out and inspired other women.

On the other hand, Edison was a privileged white man, who lived amongst other privileged white men most of whom did not accomplish anything of note, despite their privilege

So only oppressed people or visible minorities can be proud of their accomplishments, but others can not in your opinion.

Many “inventions” were created on work previous done, some stolen.

The days of heroes are long gone.

Maybe some research need to be done by some of you guys regarding the great inventions in mathematics, from the invention of “0” , yes the simple zero which facilitated scientific quadric equations .
