What's a cruner? Something like a cruller?
Thanks for memories. RiP

So true. Can’t find a decent French cruller anymore. I actually found a good recipe and have deep fried a couple batches over the past few years! Same with yeasted apple fritters!

Will be the same to find old school crooners now that Tony Bennett has left us. Saw him 3-4 times at Casino Rama and in a concert somewhere in the US on his Duets tour. Great voice and seems like he was quite a nice guy too! I will listen to his Duets albums this weekend !

Born Antonio Domenic Benedetti in Brooklyn, he was the last of the legendary NY Crooners. He had an outstanding career, he really started to clean up after Frank Sinatra passed away. The tradition of the Crooner was started in New Orleans post WW I, it was a jazz/pop sound that always endured. Tony Bennett sounded best with his long time piano accompanist Ralph Sharon.

I will edit my comment.
TBH, he may be fine physically. I was just commenting on his voice.

It was also hard to listen to the last recordings released by Kris Kristofferson and Johnny Cash because they sounded so frail.

This guy was one of the soldiers that liberated Dachau.

Crooner-A singer, typically a male one, who sings sentimental songs in a soft, low voice.

Tony Bennett liberated concentration camp while serving in WWII, described war as 'front-row seat in hell'

That's what I was alluding to in my link. Fought his way through the Battle of the Bulge. Liberated concentration camps. went through it all. Enjoy your mercedes and your fuckin porches.

He was the last of the original Las Vegas crooners. He has now joined Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Peter Lorre and Dean Martin (as well as Don Rickles, etc.) in the great casino in the sky.....

He will be really missed here on the flawed Earth......
Yes, and sometimes "Peter Lorre" would bring his good friends, F. W. Murnau and Frtiz Lang, on stage to join Braut Pack.
