Max Webster

[tml]

For those of you as old as me, you may have been a fan of the Canadian rock group Max Webster back in the 70's and early 80's. Unfortunately, it's been a bad year for the group and their fans. Earlier this year keyboardist Terry Watkinson passed away. In the last 8 days the drummer Gary McCracken and lyricist Pye Dubois passed away. RIP to all of them, your music lives on.

I like the band, but as they sang, Let Go the Line.
Other than Kim, many of them already have.

Originally a bit dismissive of Cancon, I warmed up to them over the years. Knew Terry was dead but not the other two recent deaths.

another Canadian classic

The Recess Monkeys

If i was arrested for something that i knew i didn,t do and they locked me in a 8/10 room and played Patio Lanterns & Go For A Soda, over and over i would scream for my mama and confess

Those are Kim Mitchell solo songs, not Max Webster. You know that, right?

I saw them at the Gasworks...great band! Also saw Talas, Rhinegold and Saga(Pockets) there.... also great.

……Go For A Soda,

I was at RPM night club in mid 80’s, Cute girl that was dancing in front of me shouted to me “Next song, go for soda!” , so I started dancing. with her, and thinking Ishe’s picking me up! , we’re gonna get drinks later! The current song finishes, then “Go For Soda “ comes on, LOL!

Big fan of the Mitch - still remember grabbing this on cassette from A&A Records on Eglinton Avenue East growing up in Scarborough. Great memories. Gotta hand it to the MItch though - saw him a few years ago at the Burlington Music Festival and still could sing and play guitar for a 70+ senior.
