I fear Toronto will be San Fran north within a few years.
I have traveled for work to about 15 American cities since 2020. All are on a path to be the next San Fran. Not just Toronto.

You guys are all debating drug usage, mental health etc...

But let me tell you if an low income salary cannot guarantee you a roof over your head nothing else matters.

Cities will go to shit and the economy will tank.

To thrive a capitalist economy needs those low wage peasant servant.

Since the rich do not want to share anything because they believe homeless and poor do not deserve the best thing that can happen is the economy to collapse.

In San Fran 30% of commercial building are empty, closing and commercial rant have already tanked 25%. Which is perfect. Let the rich take the hit they deserve.

How many millennia ago was this?

Sorry but passing on genes has never been an issue; all it takes is hitting puberty and getting horny. I know it's doesn't fit your narrative but did you ever ask which segments of society tended to have more children even hundreds of years ago?
its about passing on the best genes. anybody can have kids, the government will take care of them. by the way if a kid is in care(government) statistically they are much higher probability of having problem.

not everyone had children way back when. 60% of women had children and 40% of men had them. people with resources(men) were more likely to pass on their genetics. women provided fertility and beauty. it was an exchange. women died during child birth, medical technology didnt exist, people died at a young age, etc. the average old age for people was previously much younger than todays 80. science :) . its was survival of the fittest throughout mans evolution, until recently. technology enabled man and allowed man to improve his chances of survival and to prosper(breed). anyone can breed right now, doesnt mean they are the fittest of the genetics out there to further the species. people who are medically fragile, have mental health issues, low iq, etc are breeding which undoes on a genetic level natures way of improving the human animal.

100s of years ago people were dropping like flies. outbreaks that actually decimated populations, yet there were people who survive because genetically they had better immune systems. survival of the fittest. now anyone can pass on their genes, almost anyone.

Obviously haven’t read the studies where it has been tried. I...
It has never been fully implemented as it would take a collaboration between municipal, provincial, and federal agencies. And you're trying to insult me by saying I take the time to research what I'm talking about? Okay then. Praise ignorance.

I take ranking of cities with a grain of salt. Sometimes I get the impression they are done by the tourist board in those cities. Here they have San Franc ranked 14th. Here's what San Fran residents say.
'Our City's a Sh**hole': 40% of San Francisco Residents Say They Want Out – PJ Media

They're getting what they voted for. Bleeding hearts bleed everything dry.

Ah, eugenics.

Sorry but it's a very common trend through recorded history that poor people have lots of kids. It's still true around the world. Interestingly, the countries with high social mobility and high levels of support services have significantly lower birth rates. I guess your claims that welfare causing people to have more kids is an idea without a home.

which is why I’m not sold. Is that impossible to figure out?????

Because where it has been tried, and reasrched its showing from the bottom up can work.

“Capitilism” as we know it. Has shown for roughly 40 years, that trickle down doesn’t work. It’s just the best we have atm.

question.
All that $$ “you” ( not you specifically) have socked away. Under the mattress, in RRSPs. What’s it doing for the economy????? And how much actually trickles down???very very little.

The economy…it does virtually Jack….it’s not in the economy.

where as low income earners and even the middle class these days…..spend all their $$

One thing some of us used to quasi laugh about while playing with 100s of millions. “What do we do”.
Do we build anything?
Make anything?
No, all we do is take money, and make more money for the well off and rich.

:)

yes they did. what else is there to do when there isnt any cable? yes it still is. higher earning women have more abortions then lower income women. higher income people tend to prioritize different things. DINKS or people who concentrate on their career. yes the trend of western countries having less then replacement levels of children is growing.

where did I claim anything about people on welfare have more kids? kids in care is CAS, group homes, not welfare. behavioral issues/problems.

welfare doesnt cause children; its the choices people make. now statistically higher income women have more abortions. also getting pregnant before finishing highschool and not getting married also increases the chances statistically that they will be poor.

Hmm.
way back when it was survival of the fittest. those with poor genetics, did not pass on their genetics. eventually nature ran its course.

sadly people can breed with no real consequence since the systems cares for those who are not able to be responsible for themselves. which perpetuates offspring who will follow the same cycle as the parent.
As I said, people in our system of care have a far lower birth rate than people in the past and far lower than systems where there are lower levels of governmental support.

Pretty much.
Way too many people don’t understand either capitalism, tickle down, taxation, and pyramid schemes…….and what happens when the base collapses….

Nor do they understand that when the peons have had enough…They will outnumber you 8-2 or 7-3

Marie Antoinette and “let them eat cake” learned that painfully. And those that don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Mental illness is genetic.

If you have high anxiety issues, your kids are likely to have high anxiety issues.

Schizophrenia runs in families.

We've been medicating and saving mentally ill people for a few generations. When they want to kill themselves, we tell them to get treatment instead and to cope with their suicidal thoughts.

All of those mentally ill people have had millions of children who are also mentally ill, hence the growing mentally ill population.

It's basic mathematics.

If you allow tall people to have tons of kids, you'll have lots of tall people in society. If you allow mentally ill people to have lots of kids, you end up with a whole new generation of lots of mentally ill people who become homeless in an increasingly competitive society.

Dirty Harry. There are a lot of afflictions that come as a result of things that happens to us during our lives.

PTSD is one.
And it doesn’t take witnessing or experiencing some single brutal nasty event.
