As far as the “conservatives” are concerned both putin and prigozhin helped trump in 2016 and can help again.

Many of whom are not within transportation distance, nor do they have the infrastructure to do it quickly. Many will be guarding installations and cannot leave. Many are occupying troops and cannot leave.
I agree that this probably won't end well for the mercs......unless he already has set up other generals who agree with him and may have more troops awaiting orders.
He isn't stupid. So either it was a desperate move, or a planned one.
I think the regular army is reluctant to exterminate the Wagner troops, because they need them as shock troops. They need to lose prigozhin without losing the troops.
And to the ones hoping for prigozhin to win: consider his fingers on the nuclear button.
