Amazing how we pay for emergency services with our taxes and now folks want to strip folks from getting help from the very same emergency services we pay for. I guess the next time one gets into a car accident, pay for it out of pocket for fire, police and ambulance. Hey, if you didn't get into the car and drive, it wouldn't have happened. LOL
Both of you make PRECISELY the point I am making.

If you go that route, of the government deciding what is allowable, to receive services, freedom is gone.

Could be easily defined.

1. 8 hours if free search x 2 personal.
2. Any activity off the ground or beneath the water surface more than 50ft.
3. Unnecessary endangerment of rescue personnel.
4. Any above ground activity with a excursion company is covered.

A person who gets trampled while riding an elephant is easily found.
A person gored on a safari is easily found.
A skydiver is easily located most times.
A boat sinking can be radiod in and easily found.
What about smoking?
Alcohol?
Obesity?
Riding a motorcycle?

Please "EASILY IDENTIFY" how you feel about these.

There is precedence for municipalities recovering the cost of rescue services. The most famous and most common is rescuing people off the ice on Lake Simcoe. I don’t think it’s generally a hefty hit, but do seem to recall a bill for $20,000 somewhere.

why?
Because venturing onto the ice when conditions are known to be unsafe. Puts responders lives at risk, and cost a bunch of $$. Money that comes out the municipalities budgets. Basically a lot of tourist every year, require police, fire, EMS, but don’t pay taxes in the Muni.

I think ( not sure) people that have gone skiing/boarding when snowpack is also known to be unsafe……

Will they go after the estates? Owner of the company? Doubt it, but they should.
What about smokers and obese people?

As far as we might be concerned? I’d suggest anytime authorities advise the public not to do X because conditions are unsafe.

Don’t go on ice when it’s unsafe.
Don’t snowboard when there’s avalanche risk.
Don’t venture into flood/fire zones
Don’t swim at X beach. Rip tides
Etc and so on.
What do you say about obesity and smoking|?

As a % billionaires don't pay as much as they should. They have access to tools and techniques even most others in the top of the income brackets don't.
Nonsense, the rich pay a monstrous proportion of total tax.

The top 10% income earners pay 50% of total taxes.

Case closed.

He was a RINO which is the same as a democrat. Donald Trump was and still is in consultation with Boeing designing something unlike that loser who claimed his POS was in consultation with Boeing.

Just saw an interview on CNN which I can't find on line. He was talking gleefully about the 7" thick plexiglass window. He was saying that at full depth it squeezed into the frame by 3/4 of an inch. When it was going to break it would make a crunching noise as shatter patterns spread across the window. He then laughed.

I guess since nobody has pointed it out, when the glass breaks Ocean Gate becomes Water Gate

That's harsh but yet exactly like I feel.

Much more could have been done with 250k to help the ones in needs. Would have made them feel proud. And be alive.
This comment is meaningless.

Much more could be done with the funds required for my trip to the Caribbean..

With the funds for my second massage this week...

with the funds for that dessert I didn't need at the restaurant...

with the funds for that car that was $5,000 more than \I actually needed....

Let me rephrase.

They don't pay the % of THEIR income in taxes, that they should be paying, because they have access to tools that most others do not.

So if they did pay the % of their income that they should be paying, who knows, they would probably be paying like 75% of total taxes. Like it should be.
PROOF

I just showed you an article that showed that the top 10% income earners pay 50% of total taxes.

Please show me your research that proves otherwise. I am sure you have many many articles,

J'attend avec impatience votre reponse

This has to be a joke.

You are going down almost 4 kilometers under the sea in a contraption controlled with play station controller?

Right? Saw this video, plus this frame of reference for how far down they were actually going in that contraption:

Those boys never stood a chance of getting back to the surface if something went wrong. As an aside, “more people have been to outer space than to that depth of the ocean” 🤯. That fact alone should’ve been a deterrent to go on this adventure

At that depth, the pressure I heard from an expert was the equivalent of a 111 story building made of lead.

What do you say about obesity and smoking|?
No idea why you’re asking. You’ve accused others of not reading what you have said, taking the time to understand. Now you’re asking me what about “smoking”, “obesity”,……Driving on the 401 too?

Maybe I’m not mentioning stuff like that, because it doesn’t quite fall into “Don’t on Lake Simcoe ice, it’s unsafe”?

https://www.durhamregion.com/news/c...cle_be0b373d-3e65-5743-885f-59f6995cefae.html

The dynamics with respect to Municipalities recovering cost and sending a message are very different than the govt of Canada doing the same when needing to rescue us[.

Their tax revenue and budgets are tiny…relatively speaking. Yet every year, people that don’t live in those municipalities ( you know pay land taxes)…require police, fire, EMS, etc etc.

What you think the taxes you pay to CRA fund the municipality budget? Please don’t tell me that….There are also Hefty bills for those that drive onto the ice, whose vehicles go through, and then have to be retrieved at a later date. ..
So the difference is, what you haven’t taken the time to realize, nor read what I’ve said ( I’ve specifically mentioned tourist/tourism) is that for the things you are listing. Yes, your taxes “help”…the type of things I’m listing and referring to, are incidents when “tourist” are rescued…Do you understand now? But could include those that live there ( pay land taxes) depending on the specifics. Aka what activity, what warnings were issued.

kind of like those on the bottom of the ocean.

What is your point? What is the point I am making, have you read what I wrote? Some people have in mind what they want to say, and barely glance at what they are actually responding to.

FOCUS!

What I am saying is that taxes, government spending - we pay, and some of us pay more than we use, others don't. But if you want to go the route of tallying up for every person what they spend and what they get back - that's not government, that's a store.

I ( I despair that I need to spell it out for you) , am saying that - let me use your example - yes, we MUST pay for handicapped children etc, and we also must provide health care for smokers, and children of addicts, BUT WE ALSO must provide emergency services to motorcyclists that are 17 times more likely than car occupants to get injured etc.

But we ALSO must provide services to extremely expensive activites like skydiving etc.

Once you start picking and choosing which activities you rescue, you are handing ENORMOUS power to government to control our lives.

Please, I beg you , wait 10 minutes, re-read what I wrote a few times, before you respond.
You are clueless, you really are.

I just hope that they didn’t feel any pain and death was instantaneous. More money than brains I guess.
No, not money or brains. It is EGO
It is a competition between the egotistical billionaires.
Next we will be reading and discussing a disaster related to the space program.

James Cameron blasts Oceangate foe being irresponsible

Very interesting esp his last comment

''Now there is one wreck lying beside another wreck for the same damn reason''

IE bad engineering of hull which they should of been aware if they had done
proper studies. Titanic sank because the iceberg ripped through the hull because
the steel weakens when cold. The sub sank because the hull is a composite which weakens over use.

My thoughts are he is speculating on the hull's composite design as it could have been the window that cracked but that would still be bad engineering.

I also suspect it was management that ultimately failed as some scientists were aware of possible failure, as he was, but failure of management to have a policy that such critiques were recieved is the same reason both shuttles exploded as some engineers where very suspicious of the problems that brought both shuttles down but had no access to management
