This is what I am saying. What is considered high risk? There are plenty of risking activities that are completely safe. And tons of completely safe activities were an accident can happen.
In the case of scuba diving, the "industry" is highly regulated, in fact by the industry itself. In order to go on a scuba dive (with master divers) or rent air tanks, you have to take training and pass a test.
Recreational divers are supervised by dive masters on all dives.

1- I have zero sympathy for people who die doing stupid shit. Arrogance caused their death-same as it did the Titanic oddly enough.

2-Why was Canada involved in the search and rescue? AFAIK The Titanic isn't in Canadian water and none of the crew were Canadian. The entire search and rescue from all countries involved should be tallied up and invoiced to the estates of the dead arrogant dummies ASAP!

The owner sounded like a woke leftie- so there's that as a silver lining.
Canada being the closest country from the wreck it falls on us to investigate through the TSB but with an American company involved and a submarine made in the US their TSB will most likely be involved

Rush was a Republican donor....I tumbled on that looking him up
Spin this one...
But seriously what does woke or left or democrat or right or close minded would have anything to do with what happened or what he deserved. He might have deserved his faith because of the lack of inspections and testing of his submarine.

Yes. This is true. I wasn’t thinking when specific warnings are issued and people just ignore them.

Sorry. Hard for me to think about shit I won’t personally do. A warning is there for a reason. I was just thinking of individual activities as a whole.
There is apparently a name for this kind of activity- it’s called Adventure Tourism. For the most part, it seems to be unregulated. This is a short vid that describes this industry:

This has to be a joke.

You are going down almost 4 kilometers under the sea in a contraption controlled with play station controller?

Don't knock the Playstation controller. It's being widely adopted throughout the US military, for example. Why? Millions of young people arrive mostly pre trained in its usage having the benefit of thousands of hours of practice while playing games.

According to secret sources talkingto the WSJ, the US Navy new the faith of the sub and its occupants four days ago. Their underwater antisubmarine monitoring equipment picked up the implosion the moment it happened. Apparently it was picked up on the IUSS listening devices. Which is not surprising as the ocean approaches to North America are littered with floating and bottom resting microphones.
I was wondering about that, yet the vessel that lowered the sub did not have sonar ?

I suspect other sonar will come forward knowing what they know now and state we heard it to but did not know what it was

I agree with comments about rich people, like they cannot give their monies to a deserving charity? THAT IS CALLED GIVING BACK OUT OF GRATITUDE. Instead they
go on some stupid adventeur they can brag and build up their ego.

I find it comical that some on this thread are criticizing the victims on how they should have spent their money in a "better way." Just a reminder that we're on a board where guys are spending hundreds of dollars an hour on SP's. Then there are those that brag that they suposedly spending thousands a month on escorts.

IMO, spending money on escorts, diving to the wreck, adventure travel, etc are all the same thing for the same reason. Just because we can and it's a thrill. The only difference is the amount of money involved.

Agreed. Just remember that the ones claiming he should've spent their money in a "better way", have NO money to spend in a better way or if they did have the money, they wouldn't spend it in the "better way".

The playstation controller appears to be one of the safest features of the vessel.
You don't need to be an expert in material science and finite elements to know that composite carbon fiber is a questionable material for compression strength.
I could not imagine that this material was used for a submersible. That is why I initially doubted the implosion theory.

If you have money to spend on escorts then you have more disposable income that the average person. Maybe not enough to cure world hunger or clean up the oceans, but can certainly put to other uses.

Late Thursday the Wall Street Journal reported that "A top secret military acoustic detection system designed to spot enemy submarines first heard what the U.S. Navy suspected was the Titan submersible implosion hours after the submersible began its voyage," and that "the U.S. system detected what it suspected was the sound of an implosion near the debris site discovered Thursday."

What's more, it's not like the military took days to try and figure out what the sound was. "While not definitive, this information was immediately shared with the Incident Commander to assist with the ongoing search and rescue mission."

So, the Biden administration knew on Sunday (while not definitive), that the submarine sounded as if it had imploded hours into its journey. What's more, they let everyone think the passengers were alive.

Now that the story has served its purpose and the White House’s ” historic ” press secretary looks to move to even more dramatic geopolitical shocks, we are confident that it will be some variation of 'out of respect for the families,' or 'at the company's request.'

In the end, however, it's not like a diversion was even needed: for those wondering how many minutes the mainstream media has devoted today to the IRS whistleblower’ story we have the answer: 0.

Sunday: US Navy detects implosion of the Titan, doesn’t inform public
Monday: “TITAN IS MISSING!!”
Tuesday: “BANGING IS HEARD!!”
Wednesday: “RUNNING OUT OF AIR!!”
Thursday: “WRECKAGE FOUND!!”

They knew the outcome 4 days ago, yet they
The Same Day H.Biden pleads guilty
Coincidence I think not

They tried to milk it as long as they could but air running out was their deadline.

The WSJ is reporting the US Navy detected the Titan implosion on Sunday but Biden held the news until today's whistleblower testimony on Hunter
The entire thing was a distraction op…. Never let a crisis go to wastes… Or Never let a waste have a crisis...
By Hunter Biden, US Navy Reserve.

PS. To hide this fact from the families while the "rescue" was ongoing is unforgivable. Milking this sub story has been standard media procedure, your attention is always being diverted from something more serious

Cliff Notes:

The clown that ran the operation is rumored to have put a window on this POS that was pressure rated for less than 1/3 of the ultimate depth.

He also reportedly stated that he didn't want to hire middle aged white guys, because they "weren't inspiring."

Diversity Equalities Inclusion now killed a billionaire due to diversity hire .

Maybe…but then where are all the government services for that boat of 500 migrants that sank in the Mediterranean?

And, as far as “taxpayers” go,, do these billionaires even pay any taxes? Or are the rest of us picking up the tab for their arrogant thrill-seeking?
My point is clear: If you wish to deny government funds to preventable expenses, then YOU , ME, EVERYONE are benefitting at some level from SOME things we do that cause an expense for everyone else that THEY DO NOT incur for themselves.

That is obviously my point which a lot of you don't comprehend.

What taxes? What goverment services?

City of Toronto taxes? HST?

Zimbabwean income taxes? Sarnia social services, what should they have done for the 500 migrants?

Swiss import duties on Australian cheese?

Your comments are so unclear, what EXACTLY is your point for Canadian taxpayers? Canadian Governments\?

When a boat full of migrants sink it only gets a minute of coverage.
Lets look at the tax code and see how much taxes the top 1% pay compared to the working class.
They pay ENORMOUS amounts of tax.

Should tax payers also not pay for physically handicapped children because their mothers were smokers or addicts?
Think about what you are saying.
What is your point? What is the point I am making, have you read what I wrote? Some people have in mind what they want to say, and barely glance at what they are actually responding to.

FOCUS!

What I am saying is that taxes, government spending - we pay, and some of us pay more than we use, others don't. But if you want to go the route of tallying up for every person what they spend and what they get back - that's not government, that's a store.

I ( I despair that I need to spell it out for you) , am saying that - let me use your example - yes, we MUST pay for handicapped children etc, and we also must provide health care for smokers, and children of addicts, BUT WE ALSO must provide emergency services to motorcyclists that are 17 times more likely than car occupants to get injured etc.

But we ALSO must provide services to extremely expensive activites like skydiving etc.

Once you start picking and choosing which activities you rescue, you are handing ENORMOUS power to government to control our lives.

Please, I beg you , wait 10 minutes, re-read what I wrote a few times, before you respond.
