Wealthy people suffer from SGR syndrome, smartest guy in the room. Try telling a wealthy person what to do.
Monetary success is a bad teacher. It makes you think you know. When actually you are still a prick.

But then who determines what is thrill seeking????

Hiking in the woods, boating, there are reasonably safe activities that end up in disaster and Search and rescue is required.

Like hiking on trail is ok but if you go off trail you are in the hook?
Could be easily defined.

1. 8 hours if free search x 2 personal.
2. Any activity off the ground or beneath the water surface more than 50ft.
3. Unnecessary endangerment of rescue personnel.
4. Any above ground activity with a excursion company is covered.

A person who gets trampled while riding an elephant is easily found.
A person gored on a safari is easily found.
A skydiver is easily located most times.
A boat sinking can be radiod in and easily found.

Not to be gross but there may not be much left of the bodies. Condolences to their families and friends. So sad
Supposedly sharks can smell blood from hundreds of meters away, in concentrations as low as one part per million (ppm).
Its been 4 days so there will be nothing left of them

I'm also not trying to sound gross, but thats the truth

I am able to distinguish between hiking and descending to 12,500 feet in an un-certified craft.

There is precedence for municipalities recovering the cost of rescue services. The most famous and most common is rescuing people off the ice on Lake Simcoe. I don’t think it’s generally a hefty hit, but do seem to recall a bill for $20,000 somewhere.

why?
Because venturing onto the ice when conditions are known to be unsafe. Puts responders lives at risk, and cost a bunch of $$. Money that comes out the municipalities budgets. Basically a lot of tourist every year, require police, fire, EMS, but don’t pay taxes in the Muni.

I think ( not sure) people that have gone skiing/boarding when snowpack is also known to be unsafe……

Will they go after the estates? Owner of the company? Doubt it, but they should.

According to secret sources talkingto the WSJ, the US Navy new the faith of the sub and its occupants four days ago. Their underwater antisubmarine monitoring equipment picked up the implosion the moment it happened. Apparently it was picked up on the IUSS listening devices. Which is not surprising as the ocean approaches to North America are littered with floating and bottom resting microphones.

This is what I am saying. What is considered high risk? There are plenty of risking activities that are completely safe. And tons of completely safe activities were an accident can happen.

A top secret U.S. Navy acoustic detection system designed to spot enemy submarines first heard the Titan sub implosion hours after the submersible began its mission.

As far as we might be concerned? I’d suggest anytime authorities advise the public not to do X because conditions are unsafe.

Don’t go on ice when it’s unsafe.
Don’t snowboard when there’s avalanche risk.
Don’t venture into flood/fire zones
Don’t swim at X beach. Rip tides
Etc and so on.
