Last night, 5 years ago, I was at a client’s house. I met him on seeking arrangement. We’d been for dinner and I’d drank more than I’d planned… but it didn’t count, as it was free, right? We went back to his and he had more booze and drugs. I had said I wasn’t going to do any white drugs for a while (in fact not at all this week and this was the third time)… but it didn’t count, as it was free, right? When we ran out I wanted more. I offered him [service redacted-we aren’t allowed to discuss it here] if he called his dealer and he did, and I did it. I remember afterwards he told me I really shouldn’t do that. What a scumbag.

I left his house at 9:30am after he tried to convince me to sleep it off at his. I called my roommate and told them I needed help. I’d never said that to anyone about anything.

Today I celebrate 5 years of sobriety. Sometimes I still have to punch myself. I never knew it was an option for me to quit; I just thought booze and drugs were part of my life forever. I didn’t think I could do anything without them. Turns out the opposite was true; I could barely do anything WITH them.

God I’m lucky I’m alive. I’m so proud of myself and so thankful for the friends and support I’ve had these past 5 years and how deeply I’ve learned to love and self-advocate while staying gentle and getting back in touch with my inner child.

I don’t know if I could have done it if I’d stayed in the restaurant industry. Sex work saved me in a way tbh, I remember snorting icing sugar pretending it was coke for the first while, whilst looking for sober or less addicted clients

Congratulations on 5 years.

Good tip with icing sugar I will need to tell my 30 year old son to give that a try. He's forever unsuccessful at quitting his coke addiction. Tries and relapses in 4 days. Longest sobriety was 6 months. He's been dealing with this for almost 10 years.

You're half woman, half amazin.

Question: I quit cigarettes just over two years ago. After the first three months I was fine now, two years later, the cravings have returned. It's annoying as fuck! Do you still get cravings for alcohol and snow?

I managed to quit with AA. I only went for a year but it really helped
I couldn"t do AA, went to rehab for 28 days fell off a couple of times then got my shit together, it was tough for the first year or so but now i rarely think about it. Its been over 15 years now, so life is good.

i'm sorry to hear about your son, coke is a tough one, I know as a family dealing with somebody with an addiction you've probably explored a lot of options perhaps long term rehab might be the solution try Brockville there are some pretty good people out there.pm me if you like

No, I don’t get cravings anymore. I quit smoking at the same time too. If I start to think about relapse I work with my therapist, friends, etc to figure out where that’s coming from :)

Congratulations. I'm so glad I don't do drugs and can enjoy alcohol with dinner and have a good time. I never say to myself, I need a drink now. I can take it or leave it. I've seen what drugs and alcohol can do to people and I'm glad you were able to stop. I bet you feel much better.
