An old flame has reconnected with me. I doubt it’s going anywhere, however, it brought up a scenario.

Her husband has left the country. He’s living in Thailand. She wants a divorce and claims he is doing everything in his power to slow the process down. Basically he’s doing nothing.

Can she not just go to court? If he doesn’t show up then he has no argument?

Old flame using you for rebound - so sex it up. Most likely she is using you No common law or marriage between the two of you.

She can go to court if she has proof of him leaving Canada - customs or flight boarding from the airline, and him been there. Facebook.

I think there is something called google.

Yes. She can simply apply to the court and get her divorce without him participating in any way.

There's an extra waiting period for noting her hubby in default because he is outside north America, but IIRC it's just 30 or 60 days.

If he refuses to answer in any way, that is basically him not contesting the divorce.
