They hated Russia because their former ally Nazi Germany was crushed by
Soviet Union?

No, because Russia invaded Finland.....

I guess Russia just fucked up their "sphere of influence" all by themselves LMAO
This is the thing.
No country is "owed" a sphere of influence.
You have to create and maintain one if you want one, and it is subject to the constraints of your actual power and influence as well as all the other countries involved directly and indirectly.

Russia hates that its sphere of influence has been shrinking.
Russia no longer thinks it can maintain it in any other way than military force.
Russia's use of military force is shrinking its sphere of influence that it had via other means.

In the long run like in the coming decades for the rest of
the century Russia had better shrink its sphere of influence
for its own good. Its leaders must be smarter than me and
realize that soon. The Ukraine war is already driving Russia
to China. Russia would be better be content with keeping
the territories they already seized in the war (which I think is
time for them to terminate) and withdraw its influence from
Ukraine and the rest of Europe. By about 2030 all infrastructures
needed to complete Russia's diversion of its fossil fuel export
from EU to China and the rest of Asia will be in place. Until then
the west will stoop to dirty tricks like price capping to continue
buying Russia's natural gas and other commodities at
discount price while keeping up with sanctions to weaken
the country. Russia will be better off to be dissociated from
EU totally though a price surely has to be paid.

Why is the PM woke for wanting to defend their country.
And while we're at it define woke
Because anything that is against a fascist totalitarian like Putin, who the hard right love, is obviously woke.

Exactly. Woke is the new word for 'I want to forget about history as I want to make sure to repeat the same fuck up we did in the past!'

I was using the word woke in a loose sense. It might have been
more precise to say the PM of Finland is of the woke generation as I
do not know Sanna Marin well enough to say how woke she is.
I could call for instance Jacinda Ardern another woke PM. As you
observed the woke are more ready to speak out on issues like
LGBT rights, social and racial justice. By my own experience
the younger generation who are more likely to be liberal and
woke are more inclined to oppose Putin over the Ukraine conflict.
I see being woke as neither a good nor bad thing. I was simply
making an observation.
Basically, you tried the convenient "label any leftie as woke" at an inappropriate time and got caught. I'd go with that admission as opposed to continue backtracking every time you are challenged here. It's a better look even if somewhat woke.

It's a bad thing when it becomes obsessive.
And a rightie is a fair judge of when it becomes obsessive? Hahahaha.

I think it's like the judgement righties have that only cities with Democratic mayors are shithole cities but none of them are so if they have a Repug mayor.

Is that the same kind of judgement you'd rely on?

I do think the woke are most likely leftie but I never thought all
lefties are woke. A lot of lefties are old farts but the woke
tend to be younger. I know this is a generalization but is one
that I think hold true generally. I am not sure if I came across as
trying to apologizing for calling Sanna Marin woke instead
of trying to explain my position. I still think Sanna Marin came
across as woke but I don't think Biden is woke for instance. I do see the
woke as a distinctive group among the liberal lefties. I also think
Trudeau is relatively more woke for people of his age.

I think this is expected. Finland has a woke PM who has
been vocal against Putin.
Well, having a Woke PM does have it's advantages:

With my strikethrough (apologies but I'm being lazy) I find your post sensible and pragmatic.

While I doubt Ukraine would sit still, it would be interesting to see how the world would react if Putin made a global address that Russia is immediately ceasing hostilities. That they will remain entrenched at their present positions and ask the global community's support for a unilateral cease-fire 'peace'

That would be the ULTIMATE Russian mind fuck and would really throw the west off balance.

Ain't gonna happen because of Putin's pride, even if it were just a feint.
