Finland announced they intended to join NATO very soon after Russia invaded.
The issue was whether they could convince NATO to let them in, which seems to have been settled now.

I think this is expected. Finland has a woke PM who has
been vocal against Putin.
Why is the PM woke for wanting to defend their country.
And while we're at it define woke

I didn't mean to say the PM wants to defend Finland against
Russia because she is woke. Nor did I mean she is woke
because she wants to join NATO. What crossed my mind while writing
the post is just that the PM happens to be woke. Support of Ukraine
among NATO countries is overall bipartisan but in general liberals are
more inclined towards the side of Ukraine. I expect the woke generation
is more likely to denounce Putin more strongly than a conservative one.

Here
How is the PM woke and what does that mean. Conservatives use the word as a relieing cry every time they don't agree with what isn't on their agenda. This is the definition of woke in the dictionary.
"aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)" I don't see how this is a bad thing

I was using the word woke in a loose sense. It might have been
more precise to say the PM of Finland is of the woke generation as I
do not know Sanna Marin well enough to say how woke she is.
I could call for instance Jacinda Ardern another woke PM. As you
observed the woke are more ready to speak out on issues like
LGBT rights, social and racial justice. By my own experience
the younger generation who are more likely to be liberal and
woke are more inclined to oppose Putin over the Ukraine conflict.
I see being woke as neither a good nor bad thing. I was simply
making an observation.

Hungary are also finally agreeing to bring a vote in their parliament for the approval of Finland's membership.
Orban at long last now supports Finland's membership!!
This will not only piss off Putin, but also his American mouthpiece called Sucker Carlson!!

This will really piss off Putin.

Finland expected soon to join NATO.
It will be a problem, if NATO places intermediate nuclear missiles in Finland.
I doubt they will.

Will Finland want missiles stationed in their country by
its NATO master? I can see why Sanna Marin want to join
NATO having pissed off Putin for wanting to give away
old and worn out fighter jets to Ukraine so they can buy
more replacements from the U.S. for their protection. But
providing a base for nuclear missile aimed at Russia would
seem to defeat that purpose.

PM Sanna Marin: Finland has not promised Hornet jets to Ukraine

Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin (SDP) said on Monday that Finland should discuss the possibility of sending old Hornet jets to Ukraine after they are decommissioned.

The PM was clarifying a similar statement she made last week during a visit to war-torn Ukraine.

While in Kyiv on Friday, Marin suggested that Finland could discuss the issue of handing over its decommissioned Hornet fighter jets to Ukraine once they are taken out of service and replaced.

However, her statements appeared to come as a surprise to other leaders in Finland, including President Sauli Niinistö and Defence Minister Antti Kaikkonen (Cen).

Starting in 2025, Finland's Hornet fleet will be decommissioned and is expected to be fully phased out by around 2031. The ageing Hornets are to be gradually replaced with US-made F-35 jets.

During a break from campaigning in western Finland on Monday, Marin told reporters that she did not make any new offers to Ukraine during her visit.

Marin: Ukraine needs heavier weapons
"How will we be able to help [Ukraine]? The matter will be solved through cooperation with all parties involved in foreign and security affairs policy," she said.

The PM underscored that she has not offered a policy about the matter and that no one has promised to offer the fighter jets to Ukraine.

She said her statements in Kyiv were not new decisions or military aid promises, but rather about the possibility of starting a discussion in Finland regarding what to do with the country's old Hornet fighter fleet, once they are replaced.

According to Marin, the matter needs discussion now, because Ukraine needs heavier weapons to continue defending itself against Russia's invasion.

"It is clear that Ukraine needs even heavier equipment. And it's good that we were able to agree with partner countries about sending tanks [to Ukraine], and yes, the next big issue is fighter jets and air defence, more broadly," Marin told reporters.

President Niinistö told Yle on Monday that he discussed the Hornet fighter jet issue with Marin on Saturday.

"Finland has focused on Ukraine's immediate needs and requests, which were answered with [Finland's] 13th defence equipment aid package," Niinistö said, emphasising the importance of Finland's defence capabilities.

"Especially regarding the Hornets, the decisive factors are the requirements of our own defence. What happens to the Hornets after they are decommissioned is a different discussion" Niinistö told Yle by email.

It's a bad thing when it becomes obsessive.

You are employing the term 'woke' as both a sword and a shield.

In the process, you have metastasized yourself into a pretzel.

It's a bad thing when it becomes obsessive.
Like an enraged mob, brainwashed by lies, rabidly lathered up by a lying, sociopathic leader and the fortress of lying alternate-world, pseudo-culture that then is harnessed and deployed by said sociopathic leader to storm the Capitol in an attempt to overturn the results of an election?

Is that what u meant regarding your post?

Alright, maybe my observation was misplaced and being woke
isn't worth noting in the context of this thread. I could be mistaken
that the woke generation are mostly pro-Ukraine and anti-Putin and
Sanna Marin could be an exception. As more of the younger
generation taking to the street to protest against support of the
war perhaps sentiment in Europe will be shifting to the side of
Russia. People will increasingly realize Putin was provoked into
the war by NATO. Let's hope people in Europe will rise up to end
the war soon.

This was only a matter of time, so I am not surprised. Finland has always hated Russia, for obvious reasons.....
They hated Russia because their former ally Nazi Germany was crushed by
Soviet Union?
