Acciari and Schenn 4 hits each. The Leafs look bigger and heavier which is suited for playoff hockey.

Leafs can cause havoc. I can see them
Beating tampa bay. Boston will be hard and are owning the league but if the leafs beat tampa I can see them going on a roll

Leafs won't win anything meaningful this year, and it will cost Dubas his job. He will go down as the GM who won nothing and fucked the team for years to come with his trade nonsense. Hope he proves me wrong, but I doubt it.

I keep hearing that if the Leafs win that first round against Tampa that Dubas is safe regardless of if they lose to Boston...like WTF? That is what qualifies as success now?

This NHL playoff format is a bit nonsense, I like the NBA format where its very cut and dry, Top 8 in each Conference quality, 1 plays 8, 2 plays 7, 3 plays 6 and 4 plays 5. 1 to 4 have Home court advantage. In NHL its Top 3 in each division qualify then next two best records in each Conference are the Wild Cards 1 and 2. Top team in Conference plays WC2, other Division winner plays WC 1, then 2 and 3 in each division play each other. It is possible to have 5 teams qualify in one division and 3 in other division, depends in which division the Wild Card teams are placed. Everyone says Toronto would play Boston in next round if both advance. Is that because they don't do reseeding in Round 2 ? They don't do Top plays Last and middle teams play ? They do the same bracketing system as first round ?

Boston got knocked out in first round last year. I don't in particular buy the argument that the team with Best season record (Presidents Trophy) is a shoe-in to win the Cup. It's better to let your foot off the pedal a bit during the season then turn it on in the playoffs. Don't shoot your load during regular season. Home ice advantage doesn't mean as much as you think. Good teams know how to win on the road. Even if you get home ice advantage, if the teams split the first two then the lower seed has home ice for the remaining 5, this frequently happens.

The makeup of the Leafs is weird.

For the past few years they keep signing/acquireing players past their "best before date". Wonder if Schenn, Giordano, O'Reilly, etc. fall into that category?

Dubas has done just enough trades to help the Leafs win ONE series, that would keep Dubas in his job cause Leafs win One series, you can't fire him for that accomplishment

Seeing as the word meaningful is somewhat open to interpretation, in your opinion, what would you consider meaningful to mean as it pertains to the Leafs?

Well yes but many of the playoff matchups would be different
During last night's telecast they showed the matchup comparison (based on current standings) based on the current format versus if it was 1-8. In the east, all 4 series would be the same.

Matthews played
It sure didn't look like it. He was virtually invisible.

And last night wasn't a huge difference either. LOL. It seemed to me that in the last two games he's been having trouble controlling the puck. He's bobbling the puck, mishandling passes and missing his shots.

That's the sort of crapp that happens when you have $ 40 million locked up in 4 forwards
