I think with Bobby getting healthy again along with Jota, Nunez, and Gakpo they'll be able to figure out how to get Salah the ball in better positions and get it to him ore often. Right now the issue is on the defending side and for me it starts with a too weak midfield. It's time to move on from Milner and Hendo, and I think Bellingham may be an answer. but I thought that about Thiagao too look where we are.

Opposing teams are also targeting Alexander Arnold as the weak defensive link, so Salah has to stay out wide and track back to help out Trent more than previous seasons.
The talk of Alexander Arnold being a defensive liability is rampant. But how does anyone expect him to defend when he is sent so far up the pitch? He plays like a wing back not a full back. Someone has to cover when he goes up but its not happening. That is on Klopp.

Its true, sometimes I think he should just be moved to the midfield.

If they get rid of Milner and Ox, they’d have to bring in another 2 English players to meet the homegrown quota.

This is why they’re also pushing for the Mount transfer so hard. I think FSG should have gone for Kalvin Phillips to cover for Fabinho last year. He’s just rotting on the man city bench now and they only bought him to prevent their rivals from signing him.

I’ve heard rumours they might actually offer Milner another 1 year contract, but he should really just move into a coaching role.

Jorginho doing bits today...him and Trossard have been fantastic additions.

There’s a selfish part of me that actually wants Arsenal to slip up and not match our 1 measly prem title. When Man city win it’s almost like it doesn’t count because of their off field cheating.

Arteta has given them a really strong winning mentality for being the youngest squad in the league. Jorginho and Trossard have now added some experience to the dressing room for the run in.

He’s received some criticism lately for his animated touch line antics. He’s often outside his technical area running up and down the touch line and belting out instructions. Last week he cheekily kicked the ball out of the way when De Bruyne was trying to pick it up for a quick throw in. His players clearly feed off his energy though.

Yeah, I think that's why he does those antics so much. I've enjoyed watching Arsenal transform...had to suffer a bit from 2010 to 2021, but it's all coming to fruition now.....Arsenal is a team with grit and flair...not just flair anymore..and people forget, this team is the 2nd youngest team in the prem..so gonna develop more.

They were discussing this just yesterday on the Liverpool Reddit and someone posted this video. When Firmino and Mane were his forward partners they worked hard to make Salah the focal point of Liverpool’s attacks. Firmino would drop deep and almost play as a linking attacking midfielder. Manes work ethic on the other wing would free up lots of space for salah to drift from the wing into the striker position to bag the goals.

This season he’s mainly been playing with Nunez, who likes to occupy the central striker area of the pitch himself and use his pace to run in behind defenders. Opposing teams are also targeting Alexander Arnold as the weak defensive link, so Salah has to stay out wide and track back to help out Trent more than previous seasons.

He still has 19 goals and 9 assists this season, but it’s still not what we’re used to seeing from him.

Nice chess-like analysis, I've always thought his good performances were "triggered" by the supporting cast around him
but couldn't really articulate how. I've judged him a bit harshly but what team wouldn't field a player with 19 goals while not playing at his best.

Haven't seen either game, just looking at the stats, both teams kept possession of the ball,
City: 67% possession, 20 shots, 5 on target, 4 goals
Liverpool: 65% possession, 12 shots, 4 on target, 0 goals

This is not good luck, MC systematically creates clear cut chances (64 goals so far, more than any other team)

Klopp coined the term “Heavy Metal” football to describe his style, but that was more like soft rock football yesterday. The best chance Liverpool had to score was Trents Free kick that was going in the top corner, but Henderson jumped in front and blocked it with his head.

Good match going on right now between Tottenham and Chelsea. Ziyech had his red card overturned for punching Emerson in the face.

Later there’s the carabao cup final between Newcastle and Man United who are trying to keep hopes of a possible quadruple alive.

Spurs 2 - Chelsea 0.

Chelsea: Raheem Sterling, Havertz, Aubamayeng, Enzo Fernandez, Mason Mount, Joao Felix, Mudryk, etc, etc. And not a goal scored Their coach Graham Potter said he has received a deluge of death threats. It's going to continue. Sadly :(

They trusted the process. Arsenal are one of the clubs that have built themselves up the right way. Wenger was able to keep them in the champions league places for quite a few years on a shoe string budget while they were paying off their new stadium debt. They also had to sell a lot of their best players during that era, like Adebayor, Nasri, and Clichy all being bought by man city.

Now that their new stadium has largely been paid off, theyre starting to use use their increased spending power in the market after all those tough years

It’s funny seeing the pundits continually try to make excuses for him. I know why theyre doing it because it’s not often that an English manager gets a chance to manage the top clubs, but 600 million spent and he can’t organize his team to score a goal in a whole month.

It’s also a lesson that it’s better to rebuild your team in stages, not the whole thing at once.

Man Utd 2 - Newcastle 0

I am not a fan of the Carabao Cup. But after a 6-year cup drought, I will take it. Congratulations Man Utd 👏 👏 👏

Casemiro opened the scoring and subsequently bossed the game. De Gea, Martinez, Casemiro, Fernandes, Rashford. This the new Herculean spine of Man Utd, similar to Peter Schmeichel, Nemanja Vidic, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, Dwight Yorke (Van Nistelrooy). Ten Hag is building something special at Man Utd.

Neither am I but this Carabao may have given a glimpse of things to come,
Europa league round of 16 is next and it looks winnable (may run into Arsenal again but Arsenal is beatable).
EPL title is a possibility too but they'll need Arsenal and MC to stumble a few times.

Did you see Casemiro pulling Bruno aside when everyone was celebrating to berate him for not passing the ball at the end to make it 3-0?

That guys a serial winner if there ever was one, and in the position that theyve been struggling to replace since Roy Keane left. Varane as well who has more trophies in his career than Newcastle’s entire history. After years of Madrid poaching uniteds best players, it’s about time they started to give a few back.
