I agree with you. I think Tory was happy to resign being the Mayor of Toronto. At 68 yrs old, he's certainly got enough money, to just spend his time, at his Florida mansion.
Thinking that "Tory was happy to resign" is both absurd and not supported by Tory himself.

1) Tory gladly entered and won the mayoral election just a few short months ago stating that he wanted to cement his policies and legacy as leader of the city he loved.
2) So to state that he was happy to resign whitewashes reality.

The kicker here is that he ran for his third term as mayor all the while WITHOLDING very critical and possibly game changing information from the public which would have informed them of his intentions and character, namely

1) That he asked and would be granted by Doug Ford strong mayor powers that would override the majority council decisions
2) He did not reveal the abuse of power with his female staffer that demonstrates an overwhelming lack of character and integrity especially given his knowledge and awareness of such abuses through 40 plus years executive roles.

Nobody is pretending to be a saint here.

It's the hypocrisy and lies that most of us despise.
I will tell you what hypocrisy is.

Hypocrisy is when everybody pretends that high level politicians are 100% faithful to their wives, when it is obvious that practically all of them from time to time either seek extramarital sex or succumbs to the everyday temptations from young women who throw themselves at them.

You can't have usually a code of conduct or contract that violates Charter rights. As always, it depends on the exact language of the contract.
I wonder about that. Aren't there policies that say a doctor is not allowed to date a patient and a teacher is not allowed to date a student?

Our company has a "no hugging" (no kissing, no neck massages, no physical contact except at our office parties) policy but nobody has the balls to challenge that policy in a court of competent jurisdiction.

Not sure about the rule that teachers can't date students, but doctors certainly can't fuck their patients. It's the quick, direct freeway to being a shoe salesman for a doctor.

Oblivion
The cushy job that the ex-mayor’s muse parachuted into, a job where he is one of the board of directors, on the payroll is likely no more once the shit hits the fan tomorrow Monday morning.
Her compensation package will have evaporated at her present employer, an employer that is necessarily intensely ”media sensitive”. Will she then seek retribution from the ex-mayor and the City of Toronto ?
The ex-mayor got out his version of the story in an attempt to mitigate what is coming next.

I think right about now John Tory is wishing he was removed from office for his alleged conflict of interest with Rogers.
It would’ve been a better way to go.

I'd love to see how these puritans react if but highly unlikely a young hottie starts paying attention to them. These same folks were protecting Trump when he pitched his "grab them by the pussy" or attempted to have sex with Stormie. LOL hypocrites comes to mind.

Toronto
It is a sanctuary city. Tory is just getting out ahead of the coming conflagration he has allowed. Big ethnic minority crime, out of control drug use, huge homelessness, record breaking food bank visits, abundant unchecked mental illness involving violent crime. Throw in the catch and release legal system that allows criminals to go free because their skin color or native status is over- represented in crime stats. I recently heard a 33 yr. retired cop mention that so many armed robberies don`t make the news daily, unless they are a big one. Toronto and most of the GTHA has become just another big American shithole city. Might as well get used to it, there`s no turning this ship around. And the worst is yet to come.
And the right wingers have all the solutions. LOL

That won't do.

We need a Pansexual, Non-Binary Lesbian Trans Woman Furry as a mayor.

To show how progressive we really are.

Someone like this.

The lefty wokies would have an orgasm, maybe 3, if that happens. But, one never knows with Toronto, especially downtown.

BTW: John Tory was invited and accepted to speak at Hazel McCallion's funeral but now has decided he won't.

Thing is.. there are no solutions. Or none that are suitable for the soft on crime and woke to the point of letting the 2% control how things go. Said it before, GTF` outta the GTA or live with it.

The only and best solution is NOT to elect a wokie leftie mayor but Toronto is a lefty biased city so that might be wishful thinking.
